im asking because the wiki is COMPLETELY wrong about this. on the social page it states gems under universal likes while almost nobody in town likes quartz or aquamarine. (i pissed off pierre, george and clint by gifting these)

Upgrade your coop to max, then raise a whole bunch of rabbits. I think that their rare drop is universally loved.

Rabit foots drop extemly rare and rabits themself are quite expensive. Instead i suggest beer or ale, almost everyone likes it. It's not perfect but its really cheap. Also fruits from trees go really well.

Coffee is a good one. Everyone 'likes' it (but not 'love') and it's readily available at the saloon for 300g each. Good early on/until you get their favorites, or as a backup to carry around and gift on-the-fly.

A lot of people like milk / eggs / vegetables from your crop. The homeless guy likes forageable fruits etc

Who doesn't love ice cream? It's just a little bit expensive to start giving dozens of them as a gift but it works.

Coffee and salads. Like Loki mentioned, not everyone will "love" it but I haven't come across any who dislike it. Most at least "like" it.

A lot of them "like" or at least say "thank you" with the wild blackberries (fall) as well - the ones you pick from bushes/find on the ground. Don't know if it applies to all the foraged fruit or not.

Leah did not like ice cream - "I guess we all have different tastes" or something like that.

I'm not saying there isn't a one size fits all universal like, but I've found that giving everyone what they love is a noticeable stop up from "good" or universal likes. Getting them what they love most isn't so hard either if you do your due dilligence. Also, don't miss birthdays, a best gift on their birthday is a huge jump.

I'm doing pretty lousy with the social part of the game, probably going to have to play through 500 times to get all the achievements. lol But that's why I went through all the villagers and chose a couple I thought would be easiest to apease, and kept it simple like that (for now!). I chose Harvey for that reason. Give that guy some pickles and he is good to go! I chose Abigail as my 2nd (in case Harvey didn't go well) because she likes stuff I pick up off the ground anyway.

Everyone else will have to wait until I have a specific reason for friending them or I have more money / supplies to get them what they want. Good thread, I'll have to save it for my future needs.
