or make a fence and plant some grass and let the chickens out to eat the grass(but make sure to fence them in, otherwise big bad wolf may eat them if they stray out too far)
Protip: during spring/summer/fall, letting the animals out will make them eat fresh grass instead so you don't have to feed them and they are happier for it: win/win

Cooking system a bit simplified, too.
I agree! I miss the actual caring for animals. I haven't tried the cooking side of it yet.
