Trees not growing
I planted 2 pine, maple, and oak trees next to my soon-to-be fruit orchard. However, half of the trees grew and half stalled:

On the right, in front of the 2 silos, are my pairs of oak, pine, and maple trees. The ones on the right grew fine, but the ones on the left (planted at the same time) have stalled. The pine tree is still a pine cone. I tried watering, replacing the one pine cone, and removing the cobblestone path, but nothing has changed. The lightening rod is something I placed after the growth disparity thinking it would help, but it did not.

Any ideas? Or is this a bug? I think I'm going to clear out a different part of the map and try again and hope for the best. I don't have any idea why these 3 trees are so problematic.

Don't worry they will be fully grown by the end of spring if you planted them early.

trees take a very long time to grow and only fully grow during the season they bear fruit, most other times they are dormant

I planted them late spring/early summer. I'm at summer 28. That one pine cone isn't going to morph into a full grown tree over night.

Pine trees, maple trees, and oak trees don't bear fruit. I was growing them to set up tappers.

As others said, have faith. Tree growth time is pretty random, as far as I have seem. I had a similar setup and had nearly a full season.

Also, double check there are no seeds or anything just behind that northern-most sapling you have.

If you are still worried, dig it up, and till that whole 3x3 patch, then return it to normal soil, and replant.

That's a good idea. I'll try that.

That's normal behavior for maple, oak, and pine trees; the same thing happened to me.

It's not as noticeable when you plant 100 at once; all directly next to one another.

Speaking of which, those trees don't need 8 tiles around them; i.e., plant more if you want to.

Nope, didn't help.

I didn't think so, but took the precaution anyways.

The trees on the left never grew beyond what's in the picture. I planted 6 more in a different area and hopefully those will grow to maturity. The original 6 I'll probably chop down and replace with fruit trees.
