Pet message?

I click on my pet cat "Fluffy" and give him water every day. When I click on him he has a little bubble with a heart above his head, but today I clicked on him and I got a dialogue message that said "Fluffy loves you". Since it always just gave me a heart bubble before I assume this means something more?

Damn - I've been pretty much ignoring my cat. Only petted him/her a couple of times. Going to have to start petting it each day. Let us know if anything else happens.

I think the pet has a hidden relationship meter, like the villagers. I got this "Sila loves you" message too. It's been a long time since, but nothing special has happened. I think it just means you've maxxed the relationship with it.

You'll notice too that your spouse's relationship meter goes up to 12 stars, rather than the usual 10. But you can actually make it go all the way up to 13 (which I think is a bug; once it goes above 13, it seems to loop back down to 11).

I've also gotten that message and I try to click on my kitty everyday. I don't give her water though...

Giving them water is purely optional, my cat loves me even though I didn't give her water for nearly a full year. Pets self-hydrate in Stardew Valley.

Not sure if any one here was sure but, im pretty sure that grampappy evaluates your relationship with your pet at the 3 year mark.
