How To Use Gate?
As the title says, how does one use a gate? I can't seem to figure out what button to push to get it to open.

Right Mouse Button. Although apparently some people are having some buggy gate behavior.

(I think LMB also works, actually.)

I've tried right mouse button, and to the best of my memory, it didn't work. Perhaps I'm missing the sweet spot, so to speak? If I had tow gates directly next to each other, would it still work?

I can't figure out gates at all. Put a fence near my coop, left a spot for a gate. Put one down and it's like a fence post with a cross-bar, not connected to the fence I'd built and it doesn't react to me at all. Thought maybe two side-by-side might form a working gate. Nope, just two fence posts, each with a cross-bar. I'm obviously messing it up somehow but it's got me stumped.

No, don't put two gates right next to each other. Just put one down with fence on either side.

I've seen the "fence with a cross bar" too. In that case I had tried to put a gate between a fence section and the edge of the map. Didn't work. Had to put a single gate in between 2 fence sections. I don't know if a gate works on fence corners.

Alright, thanks everyone, I seemed to have figured it out. Thanks!

Since you can just get them back with your axe, I actually made a 'test' in the centre of my field when I was first having trouble to see if I could figure out what happened. I put down a mock fence with a gap and still kept ending up with the crossbar thing.

Then I came back after reading your reply and thought it might be an order thing - like putting the fence down before the gate wouldn't register or something so I tried it the other way, gate first. It worked this time. Just to check, I did it the original way. It also worked. Nope, I'm flummoxed why I was having no joy before. Went back to my coop with its unfinished fenced off area, installed the gates where I'd planned to put them (and couldn't before) and everything is fine now. Oh well :)

You have to place it on top of a fence that's already in place. The build square will be red but it will work.
