Accessibility: Is this entirely playable with mouse only?
Hi there,

I have severe disability and I'd like to know a few things in order to not waste money for a game I can't play.

The game can be played with mouse only?
Is there text to be entered?
Does the game work in a window? Can it be switched between window and fullscreen?
Is timing a crucial element of gameplay?
Can the GUI or the entire game window/screen be zoomed?
Can the game be played with only a keyboard as a means of input?
Does the Windows On Screen Keyboard work for controlling the game?
Are there options for the colorblind?

Thank you for your help. The many disabled gamers out there will be happy to get that information.

You need a keyboard and there is text you have to enter. There is no zoom. You can play it perfectly when you are colorblind, I guess. Not sure about On Screen Keyboard.

The game requires the keyboard

Not to much but you need to enter your characters name, farm name, and favorite thing during character creation

Yes it can be switched between window and fullscreen.

Zoom is not currently in but is going to be added in the next patch accoding to the dev.

No idea on colorbline mode.

1. Most everything can be done with the mouse, but you do need to enter some text like naming your character and animals.

2. Yes. Like I said above, you need to name animals and your farm.

3. You can switch between windowed and fullscreen.

4. Time advances at a constant rate when you aren't doing things like looking inside of a chest or shopping, so moving quickly is rather important to getting things done.

5. I haven't tried zooming anything so I can't answer this one.

6. There appear to be keybindings for everything, so keyboard only should work fine.

7. Even if you could do it (and I honestly haven't checked), it would likely get in the way too much to be useful. You have to move around a lot which in turn moves the perspective.

8. There do not appear to be any options for the color blind.

It is easier to play with keyboard only, but it's doable with mouse only as long as you use a virtual keyboard on the parts where you have to type text.
It works in a window and comes as borderless window by default.
No, only for combat and fishing you'll need timing, but you can use a mod here on steam to take out the minigame of fishing if you need it.
I don't know if it works or not.
There are no options for a colorblind mode, but I know colorblind people who have no problem playing tha game, still colorblindness is a strange thing that changes a lot from person to person so I'd advise watching videos of gameplay to decide if it fits your colorblindness or not.

Hope I helped.

I'm sure the game can be played with mouse only so long as you have a Naga or Logitech to access your toolbar. (number keys 1-=)You'd need a keyboard for character generation and that's pretty much it.

Don't know if this game is colorblind friendly yet. Wasn't there another user that was asking about skin colors because he was tint blind? I'll go see if I can find that thread. Might be good to ask that player.

About the zoom specifically, the game launched without a proper zoom feature. However, the dev saw the demand for it on the community and is now working on implementing it. In fact he tweeted about it a few minutes ago: "Entering my cave for a while, hopefully I'll emerge with a new update for you, v1.05 w/ zoom feature, lots of bug fixes, and more!" (https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe)

It works on a window and you are able to switch between windowed, borderless window and fullscreen. There is also partial controller support. I don't think there is a colorblind mode at this moment but I could be wrong. However, given the current precedent, it is entirelly possible that the dev would be open to implement it given time. Just bear in mind that it's a one man dev team.

It might be possible to play with keyboard only, but it would probably feel awkward, so the prefered control mode would probably be mouse+keyboard. I don't know if the windows on screen keyboard works with this game.

Thank you for your help. Another title I can't play. Pity.

I haven't tried keyboard only but it's probably more feasible than mouse only. I haven't looked into rebinding movement keys but it's possible in theory...in practice is something else.

So, just to make sure, it is click to move?

No. At least not that I can see.

It's not click to move unless there's a way to do that I havn't found, you do need the keyboard keys to move.

With your disability would it be possible to play with an xbox style controller at all? Besides parts where you have to enter text for your name in the start of the game I think you can play it entirely with a controller. It might still not be possible for you but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Also timing is important in the game in the sense that every day has a limited amount of time before you have to sleep and move on to the next day, and if control timing is an issue I could see that being a problem in the mines- a part of the game where there is some simple combat.

But there's no time limit on things in the game as far as I know

I play the game with a Playstation 3 controller. It might be easier for you to use a controller because you can have all of the keys accessible on a small area and still on use one hand. The time may seem to go by too quickly, but I'm not sure as you can pause the timer.

Thank you both for clearing things up further. I for myself can't use a controller but many people with disabilities can, so that is a good thing.
