Starfruits/ancient fruits are just insane (spoilers)
Once you unlock the desert (or build up some ancient seeds), you can pretty much just snowball with the starfruits. $400 for a seed packet -> harvest -> turn into wine, sell for $2400! At this point I don't even bother planting anything else, or milk the cows, turn eggs into mayo or whatever because you can only earn a pittance compared to making wine out of starfruit or ancient fruit.

Most farming games are like that. There's lots of stuff to grow or care for, but in the end there's always the money maker crop that makes everything else pointless. What matters is the build up until you get to that point.

I am deep into the winter of my second year and havent found an ancient seed yet, seems like most people get it early. Could it be that I junked it? D:

Great tip on the starfruits. I got some seeds for Kent's quest but I didn't go so far as to fill my greenhouse with them. That should be a bit less work than the berry fest that I'm currently ignoring since they take half my energy bar to deal with everyday... I've been waiting forever for a storm in order to get battery packs and make some good sprinklers, but I might use the quality ones with the starfruit for now.

The thing is you are talking about a fruit, that takes a long time of 13 days, from a special area that takes awhile to get to then making it into another product after another 6 days.

This will take you awhile to produce and again if you have the greenhouse this is needed for the fruit to use in other seasons.

There has to be some kind of end game products that takes awhile to get to and takes time to make money of but this is normal in games.

And there are plenty of reasons to go for the other stuff as it's not always about the most money per item.

Also ancient seeds are very special and them being worth a lot is fine.

The quality sprinkers are more than sufficient for outside. The iridium really only have a lot of value for the greenhouse due to limited space. As for the starfruit being 1 season, you can grow 100s of them and then spend the rest of the year making wine out of them. Yes, the ancient seeds should obv be worth a lot since they're special.

Not saying anything is wrong with all this, but it basically makes every other money making possibilty worthless. Like it's not even worth tending to the animals, or going fishing once you have access to the starfruits.

Other than the community center that is.

Yeah, there's stuff for the community center obviously, but other than that, for the end game animals/fishing/etc basically have nothing to offer.

Pretty sarcastic, there is no "obviously" about it, it kind of blows you entire point out of the water in a way. You mention unlocking the desert then assert that all you need to do after that is farm Starfruit, you never even hint that you mean at the end-game after everything else is done.

So, you can ditch the sarcasm and face up to the fact that your original point was extremely lacking. If all you care about is making $$$ then yes, your method is great... but there is a lot more to the game than that.

Play how you want, that isn't my issue, I take issue with sarcastic defense of a pretty lacking point.

There's always something 'big' in these kinds of games ... but is it fun?

I love the way a mixed farm looks. I have fun growing different crops. I like raising animals.

For just money, sure - but it's gonna take you a while to get those things* to grow! It makes sense that at some point you have access to a way that can get you a ton of money easily.

*Okay I have like three or four ancient fruit seed packets before winter y1 because I fish way too much but that's not the point.

but why botthering with it when you can make much more money with just the berries alone? not to mention that you can harvest the mutiple times in one season and that oyu need kegs for them to be reall proftibale?
