Upgrade tools
So I finally went to upgrade one of my tools, my watering can. Blacksmith said it would take a few days. Okay.

Didn't even dawn on me that the game would be taking it away. Hell, the Carpenter upgraded my house with me in it in the middle of a thunderstorm. I don't even get a loaner can? A bucket? A bowl? I have one whole sprinkler because I don't care for running all the way to the other corner of the map to mine, and it's Fall 1, so I'm just... Nothing. Can't do anything. At least I had the foresight to grow corn(but wait, it may all die now). Of course, this all takes place the day after I couldn't access my crab pots at the beach because glowy jellies.

Is there anywhere I can buy a spare can? I looked around but didn't see anything. I can't even reset because the game saves every night. I mean, I'm missing something, right?

well there used to be a "bug" where you would get a starter version of the item if you woke up and didn't have any version of that tool currently available... but for some reason it got fixed...

No, you'll be without your tool for the day and there's no way to get another. You just have to time it well. If you're upgrading your watering can wait till the weather tells you it will rain the next day. Water your plants first then take it to the blacksmith, next day it rains so you don't need it, then the following day you can pick up the can in the morning and go back to water your plants.

Your plants won't die missing 1-2 days of watering, though, so don't worry too much. Just try to plan it out next time. The upgrading always takes the same amount of time no matter what level (copper, steel, gold, ect) so you always just need one rainy day for the watering can.

You can also use a holiday as your "rain" day for other tools like the pickaxe or axe since you wouldn't be able to do much those days anyway you don't really lose out on not using the tools much.

Also, you're in Fall and you hate running to the mine? If you put some time into the mine (i.e. during a rainy day) and collect stuff for the mine section of the community center (it's fairly easy to unlock, it was my first) it'll unlock mine carts which basically give you a shortcut to the mine and the blacksmith's place. Makes traveling a lot easier. Of course you can always just wait till Winter at this point too. Speaking of Winter, nothing grows then (except the Winter Seeds which are the Forage items) so that's also a good time to upgrade your tools.
