Fishing
Does fishing ever get any more completable with better poles, As it stands I maybe get one catchable fish in ten attempts as their bouncing up and down the entire bar faster than I can possibly keep up.

I could probably fish with a bamboo pole and do fine. Which means you just practice.

To be honest, you just need to practice more. It does become a little easier with higher poles and higher proficiency, but then you have harder fish later to catch too.

But right now half the time their shooting straight up to the top, then right to the bottom as soon as I catch up right at it starts, isntantly failing the minigame.

fishing poles let you catch the same fish. as you progress, the better poles allow you to attach bait and lure.

if youre having problems catching fish during the "mini game" then just practicec. practice makes perfect. think of it like flappy bird. i had a tough time at first but now i catch fish 95% of the time.

You must the luckiest man alive, been trying to get those kind of fish. Been trying to get the legendary fish and octopus, tuna etc that all do that.

But nope, just some perch and other small stuff.

Also, when catching pretty elusive fish (IE: Pufferfish), theres a lure that slows the rate at which it escapes when your bar isnt on it. That damn lure is worth its weight in gold 10x over.

To answer the question unlike that other person who's giving unsolicited advice, the answer is yes. It does get easier with the superior fishing poles, but the harder fish to catch will still be a bit jumpy.

I feel like I catch almost every fish with just the next highest fishing pole from the starter one.

Alright, I guess I'll just keep throwing my pole at it and see how it goes.

Pretty sure the OP didn't write, "Can some random people tell me how well they're doing with fishing?" A specific question was asked instead.

Another thing, if you continue to fish a little bit each day, and even if you aren't catching a lot, you will eventually level up the fishing skill which adds +1 proficiency. That stat is non-specific in game but it seemed like after I got it, fishing was so much easier afterward. The fish stopped being so jumpy.
According to the wiki "Fishing is the skill associated with catching fish. It's increased by fishing using a fishing pole. Each level adds +1 fishing rod proficiency. "
So keep trying. No need to "practice harder", or "get better." My guess is that it's meant to be a bit frustrating in the begging, then get easier as you continue to play the fishing mini game.

It certainly gets easier as you get better rods, extras (bait & lures) and more proficiency from your skill going up.

There's a certain degree of luck in terms of what fish bites your hook (there are easier/harder fish in various places, at different times and with different weather), but I find that some places/times are easier than others (more easy-ish fish, less hard ones).

Personally, I found that starting with rivers, daytime and sunny worked out for me (for smallmouth bass) and then moving on to mountain lake, daytime and sunny.

You could start with the lake, which has carps, which are the easiest fish, I believe (sometimes they literally don't move at all), but the lake also has some harder fish, so it's more of a mixed experience.

The more you do it the more used to it you become. The higher your fishing level, the easier it is. The better the pole, the easier it is, once you get a high tier pole you can use lures.

Just hang in there, it gets easier :)

Fishing DOES get easier with levelling.
It gets even easier with better gear.
It gets even easier if you use the controller.

That being said, fishing is VERY difficult at the lower levels and you will barely catch anything at all in days of fishing.

Even at maximum level certain things will still be very difficult to catch.

If you find fishing too much there are mods out there to use (like keeping the fish on the bottom of the bar.)
