Investing into making overpowered crop farm.

Backpack space, the 2nd row, if you haven't already. I'm not sure I care about having a 3rd row, but I definitely "need" that 2nd.

Backpack space definately, and the third row is essential if you plan on doing any combat in the mines. But what swarm said is right. Farming profits in this game is less dictated by equipment as it is money for seeds. Reinvesting 2k into seeds to plant as much as you can possibly take care of in a day will skyrocket your cash, allowing you to spend the extra on upgrades.

Upgrade watering can so you can have more crops.

You 100% want to get the Backpack space first, then you can gather more in the mines to make the money back quicker. Or you could go fishing and not have to waste time selling every 3-4 throws.

animals are longterm investiment

you need a lot of gold before they start making profit

they are still the least profitable thing you can do in the game though, next to farming, mining, or fishing. If the community center didn't require me to raise animals I wouldn't have even bothered.

I wouldn't get the backpack absolutely first. You can make do with one row for the first season easy. I'd either buy more seeds, or upgrade the watering can if you have the copper bars. After the watering can consider the axe and pickax upgrades.

The issue with this is, to get copper and coal, you will be throwing away SOOOO many items while mining, the backpack spot lets you not throw away these extra items, which in turn lets you sell more. You can make due watering 1 spot at a time since during the first season you wont have a spot for 30+ plants if you are smart. But it is all based on opinion. If you are looking to do more then just sit on your farm for the first month, which would be the smart thing to do to progress faster overall, you should get the backpack. If you just want to sit on your farm the first month mostly and just end the days around 12-2, then sure. Go for seeds and a water can upgrade (assuming you found the time/energy to get copper ore and coal)

Yup. Also, an option if you want to skip the backpack but still want to go mining, you can always put the hoe, axe, watering can, etc inside a chest first, as they aren't really needed when mining. The only thing you need to bring is a weapon, pickaxe, and possibly food if you want it.
NotThatHarkness Mar 3, 2016 @ 2:15pm
That's what I did, put the farming tools in a chest to free up slots. I only mined enough to upgrade the watering can and the axe since I needed the axe to clear some of the land. I put off getting the backup until I absolutely needed to.

I only mined up to level 10 for the longest time and just focused on getting copper. Once you get serious about mining you do need to upgrade the back pack for sure. But before that I think you can manage without it.

not really if you go with artisan goods +50% you can make mad dosh from their products

if you are rancher its advisable to go with more than 1 barn, since it speeds up heart leveling by a lot

that means plants are a secondary objective
PsychGamer Mar 3, 2016 @ 2:20pm
Making note of something if you do decide to begin your ranching empire is to begin by getting the silo first. I say that because the silo will allow you to actually stockpile that tall grass that keeps spreading across your farm. Doing so early will help you to get a good stock of hay before you really need it.

One thing to note -- do NOT invest money into current seeds if you have very few days left in the season.... your crops die at the end of each season, and there are different seeds for the next season. :brownchicken:

But the same can be said for the reverse. You can get +50% crop sell prices and make more from that than you would from rancher + animals. With sprinklers and greenhouse, it's not really any more work to maintain a farm than it is animals, and you stand to make ALOT more money at it.

There's really nothing mathmatically advantageous about livestock vs farming in this game. The only reason to do animals other than to fill in the community requests is just simply because that is your playstyle.
