Fisher or Trapper?
Suggestions? I see a later skill if i pick fisher gives me 50% bonus on top of the 25%, if those stack thats not bad, or I can get more treasure, how much more?

If I go crab pot route, how much less do they cost? never having to bait them seems useful, can just spam them all over and haul in ♥♥♥♥ every day.

Fisher all the way, first perk increase fish sell price. Then second perk also should choose the one that increases fish sell price.

I'd go with fisher unless you're planning on the "never gets trash" perk on level 10 for the trapper, it doesn't matter imo how much you can spam them if 98% will come up with broken glasses and sticks and that's my general experience with crab pots.

Ill leave this here a bit longer incase anyone else has input.

This is a good point, currently i use the garbage as a cheap source of quartz, but i can just go collect it I suppose. Or go fishing route and still keep my slow trickle of quartz even on days when im lazy and dont mine.

Side question related to fishing, so will post here. When do I unlock this irridium fishing rod? Willy doesnt sell it, and i see no way to upgrade my rod.

i chose fisher too
you'd have to craft a ton of those crab pots in order to pick trapper and i honestly don't want to run every day arround the whole town to pick those crabs and store bait again
i already have enough to do
on top of that i'm pretty sure all the snails and crabs you get from those pots are considered as 'fish' so you should get more money from them too

and i'm sure there will be a point where you have enough crafting materials so gaining more money is probably the better option here

Both are useful in their own way. Fisher is great for selling fish obviously but is reliant on spending time fishing.

Trapper helps if you want more of the set and go idea plus if you make the recycler you can turn the junk that you sometimes get into resources.

Eh, I went with fisher, I already get decent trash returns to make materials, extra money is more important.

i just noticed that the lvl 10 perks are determined by which perk you chose on lvl 5 :o
so there are technically 4 perks on lvl 10 to chose from

maybe you want to look it up for other skills and plan ahead

Fisher seems a good idea cause it sells for more, but I went trapper cause of the "never need bait " skill later on. Just make a few dozen and leave them around to get later. Extra 75% would be nice if fishing was my main source of income, but its not

I went with trapper. The angler perks are so freaking boring. 2 of the 3 options are identical and do absolutely nothing, while Pirate is a better Tackle effect. None of them make fishing itself better, funner or easier in any way.

The trapper on the other hand is the very opposite, giving 3 very helpful and unique perks. I am still fishing despite being a trapper, but I sure as hell would not be using crab traps if I had picked angler.

A good mid-late game use for the crabpots is to spam them everywhere possible on the farm's water areas. You'll get some trash for quartz and etc, but you'll also accumulate enough "fish" items from the pots you can go toss in the fridge/chest to use for quality fertilizer next season. With enough pots on the farm you won't have an issue; and even moreso with the no garbage perk. Fishing income with angler and etc comes out to about the same as foraging the beaches and etc with the forage bonuses in terms of profit. I always look at the traps as food for the fertilizer.

Edit PS -- Once you get the "Crab Pot" or w/e it's called pack completed at the community center (if you go this route) there's not really any perk to putting the traps in some distant pain-in-the-keister place to get to every day that i've found.

Fisher and pirate, gotta get those treasure chests for artifacts.

imo pot crab isnt really worth it

By the end of your first year 50% more gold for selling fish shouldn't matter. I'm still my first year and make 15,000 - 19,000 a day from pale ale kegs. Fishing on the other hand if I do it all day its like 2-8k with the 25% perk.

I went 25%, then Pirate this playthrough.

If you have the Sashimi recipie unlocked from linus, which is just 1 fish and nothing else. A bunch of villagers like that. Any sealife a crab pot catches works for that recipie. So its pretty much a free daily villager gift for some or spammable healing meals (+75 energy, +30 hp) each day.
