Anyone noticed that only the "boring" girls can be Waifus?
So we're living in a town where some chick has a natural green hair color, another one a deep blue and there's one with pink hair also. Normaly those would be the "Main characters" or "important ones". Now they're just, there.

Meanwhile the girls that are featured have respectively: Brown (Leah), Brown (Maru), Reddish Brown (Penny), Natural Brown but dyed purple (Abigail) and one Blonde. Does anyone want to take a wager about the hair color the dev likes the most on girls?

So you decide how boring a girl is by her hair color? =P
Just kidding, I think this is actually a matter of opinion, I really like Penny and I think her character is great, all the girls (except for abigail, who I found to be bland) have interesting and lively personalities that can be discovered if you get 10 hearts with all of them.

and i am just sitting here wanting to marry the Wizard...

Phil, it's less about their personality and more about their looks. In such a technicolor hair world we get 4 brunettes of varying shades and one blonde. It really feels like the dev prefers brunettes by a large margin.

All the "exotic" colors are random NPCs, no black haired girl either. Brunettes, more brunettes and another brunette.

I see, yes there is little variety I have to agree, I guess I don't mind it because I don't like the "exotic" hair colors, brown and auburn are actually my favorite hair colors.

I see no problem ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now that I think about, most of all the people I know and see everyday usually have brown hair. irl

This isn't "irl", so how does that constitute to an argument? And it's more about how egrious this is, having all kind of exotic hair colors around normaly used to make important characters stand out but the only waifable ones are almost all brunettes/red brown and a single blonde.

Seriously I love the game but you "everything is great, nobody must criticize anything!" types are really ruining things already. Please stop or this community will go the way of the FNAF or similar ones.

I too was disappointed with the bachelorettes in this game, but hair colour wasn't really a factor in that. My problem with them is that they're almost too flawed. I understand that it's the flaws of a character that make them interesting, not their perfections, but I feel like they went a little bit too far. Haley come across as, frankly, a ♥♥♥♥♥. I have no idea why anyone would consider romancing her. Abigail is comes across as neurotic and weird. Maru is reasonable, as is Leah, but then there's the problem of attractiveness. I don't find any of them to be particularly physically attractive, frankly, and that in and of itself is a problem.

Definitely think the dev could have done a better job with the ladies. I think the bachelors were quite well done though.

Once you get to know Haley she opens up a little bit and starts to care about her sister.

With Penny similar, you can notice how unhappy she is and wants to escape from that trashy trailer life.

@Cat, Haley actually gets better when you increase your friendship. And she stands out because she is the only one with a noticeable difference in hair color aside from Abigail.

Maru might be reasonable, she's also a spoiled fairly ugly weirdo and not in the good way. Leah seems like a nice person to be friends with but not one to start a family with. Seriously she's the type to drop everything at a moments notice to chase some dream, since her relationship was fairly loose it was still reasonable at that time but she seems to be the type who can pull that off even on a family and her children because something struck her fancy.

In a lot of ways the game feels like it's trying to push you towards Penny, with Abigail and Haley coming shortly behind who while having issues none of them being particularly grave (rebellious early 20s girl and wealthy alpha girl who used to be the star of highschool and now finds herself in the real world with no idea what to do with herself).

All of these issues are just amplified by how "bland" most of the heroines look, almost all of them having the same hair color, with only slight variance in it doesn't help things. Especially when you see people walking around with everything ranging from green, to blue to frigging pink. I get it, bats loves brown, doesn't mean all of them should have brownish hair!

I am glad there's only a few characters with green/purple/blue hair. I don't like the characters who do have such a hair color. I'm rather "conservative", and if this game was more anime/japan-ish, I wouldn't enjoy it.

My friend wants to marry Linus. Why can't she marry hobo santa?

Japanese hair color, almost entirely black. European hair colors, ranging from dark brown, over various other shades all the way to pale blonde and including variants such as red. "More colorful hair = Japan" does therefore not compute.

Heck hair dye and such has been around here way longer also.
Klumpatsch Mar 3, 2016 @ 4:39am
I'm not talking about normal Japanese women. Or do you compare big-eyed cat ear anime girls with normal Japanese women? And if this doesn't have to do with Japan, why did you use the word "waifu".
Kazaanh Mar 3, 2016 @ 4:40am
Because waifus are not real

All the girls in this video game are not real, so I don't get this term. I guess I'm getting too old for this internet slang.
