seed maker?
is it just me or is the seed maker useless?
except for reproducing more acient seed (not shure u can do that i havent planted the one i got yet), normal seeds are crap. u get 1 to plant , then u get 1 plant from it and that makes 1 maybe in low chance 2 seeds, out of 3 tryes, i put 10 potatoes i got 14 then 16 then 14 seeds again but for the price i could of sold those potatoes since i usually get silver and gold star produce now and eaven turn them into juice or pickles id make way more and buy way more than 14 or 16 seeds for selling 10 of them... so whats the point of the seed maker?

The most expensive and profitable seeds (ancient and rare) can only be reproduced that way, so that's it's use.

It's most likely meant to be more of a long term / end game solution to min max your farm when you've done everything else.

I started to put every non star (silver or gold quality) crop in it and tried to get enough seeds to grow the same amount again but it isn't enough. I always need some of the silver quality ones too and I'm beginning to question this method because it would be more profitable to buy the seeds and sell everything.
But I also got a good amount of ancient and rare seeds so maybe I stick with this method, i don't know yet.
It would be nice if you get at least 2 seeds out of it for sure instead of the 1-3.

The point is that there are some seed you can't buy, like the ancient ones, and rare ones can only be bought on a small scale, that's the purpose of the method, is not to be used with your average plant, that is indeed a waste.

I wish there was a way to put a stack off crops in and get a bunch of seeds back

If you do the math... (and I have...)... It is only profitable to use the seedmaker on crops that are:
- Multiple harvest (like cranberries, blueberries, beans, hops, etc.)
- Ancient Fruit, (which is not buyable)

On Rare Fruit/Sweet Gem... meh -- the crop takes so long to grow, and you are not guaranteed to get more than 1 seed per recycle -- it just isn't worth throwing away the cash.

Ancient Fruit is fairly important, because finding a seed is INCREDIBLY rare... I have only found 1 in 2 years of playing.

With multiple harvest, the sell price of the fruit is usually cheaper than the buy price of the seed... so it is profitable to use the seedmaker with them.

I am so disappointed in the seed maker. :( I was saving my gold star produce to make high quality seeds, but the seed maker just gives regualar seeds. What a ripoff.

"High Quality Seeds" don't exist.

The Seed Maker is useful for multi-harvest crops and Anicient Fruit. Certainly not a waste of resources.

I was just so disappointed, since I'd carefully saved at least 1 gold star crop of each type. I was so looking forward to making high quality seeds. :(

How is it useless?
You don't have to buy seeds anymore!

Actually, the seed maker is NOT recommended for any single harvest crops because of the buy cost ratio as well as the time invested in growing. You'll make a lot more profit by buying all seeds, except for 1. Multi-harvest crops, 2. Ancient Fruit.

The rest are not worth it, since the Seed Maker will give you 1-4 seeds, depending on your RNG luck. (My luck is perennially bad, and 80% of the time, I get 1 only seed. That means that by putting a single-harvest fruit in, I've lost the income from that fruit, and time it took to grow it.)

As far as I have seen, the no star crop only gives you one seed back, silver gives you 2 seeds and gold gives you 3 seeds. For most all crops its not much help, but for rare and ancient its great. I turned 1 ancient seed into 24 seeds in one year. I'm very pleased!!

It's actually random -- has nothing to do with what quality of fruit you put in. I just did a test with cranberries. In each case, I put in 10 fruits.

No star 10 fruits -- 23 seeds
Silver 10 Fruits -- 22 seeds
Gold 10 Fruits -- 20 seeds

Definitely random...
