I would like to know also, i did notice that closing the door in the winter made a difference, makes sence since they dont go outside.

My animals are still getting sad in the Winter so I added a second heater to the deluxe barn and deluxe coop. I will let you know if I see an improvement.

I usually chuck 4 Heaters in Deluxe Coops and Barns to keep everyone happy. My guess is 1 Heater for every 4 Pets in a Coop or Barn, but I saw some sad Pets in Winter with just 3 Heaters so I threw in 4 and now they're always happy as far as I know...

I added two heaters in my deluxe barns and coops, left the doors open throughout the winter too.

Not one of my animals showed any differences in happiness, and everyday their status was either "they are fine" or "Is very happy today!"

EDIT* I should note I put them in diagonal corners, one in the top left, the other in the bottom right.

You only need one per coop/barn regardless of size. You just have to visit them regularly and keep them fed they maintain happiness.

One of the problems your Barn Animals are running into that would make them unhappy is... well..

They're not running.

They are barely kept level when they can't run around your yard and graze, Everything else has to go absolutely perfect as a result or they're not rising in happiness. and If they don't rise in happiness, Then they'll be grumpy even if they're not falling in happiness

Zaelox is correct -- you only need one heater even at the largest levels of barns/coops.

@Kurzidan -- this is not correct. I've kept my animals indoors Spring, Summer, and Fall, not letting them out at all. (I have no pasture, and I don't want to chase them around the yard. The auto-feeder feeds them). They are all very happy and at max hearts.

All you need to do is feed them and pat them daily, and they produce regularly.

You are right, it says in book marnie wrote about animals saying they prefer to be outdoors and prefer grass instead of hay, thats the proof. But maybe add more heaters, i have a big barn and two heaters in it, but sometimes my animals are still sad
