Which Minerals can be safely donated, sold and gifted?
And which have crafting purposes or other uses, the wiki doesn't seem to quite be working yet, so I am having trouble finding a resource on what I should be doing with the different minerals.

If you can help, I apprieciate it, thank you.

All of them, there's an infinite supply of just about everything except for legendary fish(can only catch them once). Everything else you can find over time...I try and keep one of everything just in case a quest pops up for it..but save that..you can sell it or use for crafting. If there's other items that are single drops only..I haven't found it yet.

Alright, to clarify, which are craftable?

Amethysts and Diamonds are particularly valuable as gifts, but you usually can't go wrong gifting gemstones.

Gifts require some planning. Hoarding everything means missing out on money, but selling everything is also a bad idea. You want to set yourself a reserve level.

Generally, my approach is this (also applies to farming)
- If it's a "loved" gift for someone, keep a small stock of items in a separate chest.
- Sell Gold quality, silver if you have a full stock.
- Stockpile the rest to a reasonable level (depending on the item). Crafted goods don't take item quality into account, so 'basic' resources are good for keeping around.

Most gems can be donated or gifted, so it's up to you whether you want to run through town, frolocking and showering the villagers with Topaz's and Quartz, or make the money. That's a call you have to make. All I'll say is that having 30 quartz in a chest is wasted potential.

Thanks for the advice.

What about the rarer minerals which you donate to the museum? I have a couple of duplicates of them but they also see pretty rare (in that I have found 2 of them so far in my first year). I'm not really sure if I should sell them (will they make me money?) or if they are needed for crafting?

For example, marble. I\ve already donated one, and I have one more, but I can't imagine I'll get another one any time soon.

Thanks for any advice on this. I have a chest full of single rare (I think) minerals which I don't dare sell, in case I get very little, but I don't know why I'm keeping them either. Unless for gifts I suppose.

Quartz is used in crafting, and it's necessary for some pretty handy widgets, so I tend to hoard it.

I have not yet encountered any other craft-necessary gemstones.

Edit: A look through the wiki indicates that quartz is mostly it. There is one item that requires a diamond, and one item that requires a fire quartz. Mayonnaise machines require an Earth Crystal. Anything else can be disposed of however you want.

Artifacts and rare minerals (such as go to the museum), have no other use, alas. They cannot be placed in your home, and gifting is negative. Selling is the only options for these. They do sell for a small amount -- around 50-300 gold depending on the artifact, but other than the museum, they have no use.

Quartz-wise... super easy to get massive quantities through using crab pots. (Recycle the CDs and glasses to get refined quartz).

I think I have around 200 refined quartz in storage? Definitely the way to go if you are building with "crystal". (Pathways, furniture, etc.)
