Shaking Trees?
I shake, and I shake, and I shake and shake and shake...but nothing falls from the trees, except for leaves, and occasionally, some butterflies appear. I've read that you can get acorns and seeds this way, without having to chop down the tree. Has anyone else been able to do this?

Yes, I hit a tree with an axe and it dropped a pinecone one time. Might need axe upgrading but unsure.

Not all trees drop seeds. If you shake it 2- 3 times and it doesn't drop anything, just move on and shake the next one.

You can right click on some bushes during certain days of the year and they will shake off fruit. In summer you can get salmonberry and in fall blackberry. It only happens a few days a year where you will see the bushes have colorful dots on it

Once fully grown, each tree has a ≈5% chance of producing a seed once per day. Shaking the tree will drop its seed, if it has one. Trees on the farm that are not shaken will drop their seed anywhere within 3 tiles around the tree (or stump). If a tree is Tapped, shaking it will not be possible, but it will continue to drop seeds. Despite trees not growing in winter, they will still drop seeds.

Soo.. shaking once should be enough, twice if you want to be safe. Then move on if it doesn't drop a seed, don't bother wasting any more time.

If you're looking for seeds, you can axe/pickaxe the seeds on the ground in your farm to collect them. Although you can't do that any longer if they've sprouted into saplings. Alternatively, just chop down all the trees outside your farm. They'll regrow automatically (over time), and drop seeds when cut.

The thread is almost 3 years old, I think they figured it out by now.

I did, but thanks for the responses ^_^ I don't play SV as much but did recently get back into it for a spell since MP was added and my SO and I could farm together :)
