Grandpa and his grave
On Spring 1st Year 3 my grandpa visited me in my dreams and now 2 out of 4 candles over his grave appeared and are light up. Its a blue flame. He also gave me a "rating" for what ever awkward reason, it was 8/13.

Anyone any idea what it means?

IF you visit his grave in the first year of Spring it will say something along the lines of "I will visit you in 3 years." I'm assuming what happens is that you get a rating for how well your farm is going.

I thought grandpa was doing some kind of satanic rituals. I don't know many farms that have altars but when they do in other games normally ♥♥♥♥ is about to go down.

I had that exact same thought to be honest. It's rather ominous to find a creepy altar hidden in the corner of your otherwise normal farm.

End of the storyline yep. Keep playing tho until you are satisfied with your farm or just bored of the game.

Don't forget that this farm of yours was your grandpa's farm.

You can still do all the community center quests, get to know all the townies and do the hunters guild quest too. There is still a LOT to do!

I only got a 6/13... I hate being secretly tested against unknown benchmarks.

Once a list of Grandpa's testing stuff is up I'm gonna start another game.

Grandpa's visit is the end of the main game. You're supposed to have reached certain marks in order to get a higher rating from him and if you reach a good enough number of lit candles, you'll get a reward. You can give the statue a diamond later on and have him come back to look again. Here's a link to Grandpa and his rating system: http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Grandpa

i got a 12/13 that means i got all 4 candles. If you get all four candles he gives you a gift "statue of perfection" this statue gives you 2-8 iridium ore everyday. hope this helps

Honestly, I could do without all the fantasy bits.

But there's a lot of magic and stuff in the game. There's a Wizard, monsters in the mines, a TV channel that accurately predicts your luck for the day, weird relics, and a fruit that upgrades your stamina because it's essentially magic in fruit form. I think the game wouldn't have half the charm without it, personally. It clearly isn't set in our world anyway, if you read the books in the library once you've dug a few up.
