Leveling Farming

Can you level farming by just spamming the watering can without actually watering any crop at all?

No, you have to actually till up the ground, plant seeds, water them to grow and then harvest. It sucks, I know, but that's just how it is.

Speaking as someone who has maxed out my skills but farming (stuck at level 5) I can say I feel your pain.

Isnt it really easy to increase that if you just play the game normally? It will come over time and years. Im at least at level 5, but im not sure right now :/. But I have one already maxed, might be foraging though.

From the wiki:
Farming Skill is gained by harvesting crops. Caring for animals also adds experience: Petting, milking, and shearing farm animals all give 5 experience. Hoe and watering can usage does not give experience by itself.
