Secret Entrance to Skull Door Mine
"If you use a bomb on the last floor of the regular mines (level 120), a ladder will appear leading to a the Skull Door mine."
Its true? Not work for me. Staircase not work too.
It is another way to create shortcuts in the regular mine?

I suspect that much like the day the wikis description of Demetrius' likes was "run a train on all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Yee." that this is someone being a ♥♥♥♥. But I have no real idea, I havent tried it. Seems like it would be false, what happens when you try to leave? are you ported to the desert, since you are in skull mine? or would it somehow keep track that you got in via a secret door when you try to leave? So im calling BS.

For now exploration this dungeon is very expensive. I must pay 500g per run. :(

I still cant even get there, i have to drop something like 45k to repair the bus still. Considering the valuable stuff in that dungeon, 500 is a pretty good deal though.

valuable stuff? like what? :D

It's still pretty rare but still better than the normal mines (once got a iridium bar from a monster drop there).
But a word of warning, the monsters do a crap ton of damage, by almost double than the hardest ones in the regular

you go to skull caves for 2 things, disappointment and purple slimes
Lodar Mar 2, 2016 @ 2:27pm
i was in skull dungeon 2 times and found nothing of interest.
And this mumy ...
Dasorine Mar 2, 2016 @ 2:35pm
a red and a blue will give birth to purples, but your after them because they drop iridium ore, iridium bars and prismatic shards at a decent rate (at least better than you can find anywhere else even 500+ floors of skull caves)
Rythm Mar 2, 2016 @ 3:29pm
i actually found iridium ore at skull cave 40+ (very rare) the bomb thing didn't work for me (and i bombed the whole floor of the mine)

Skull Cavern is randomly generated and gives you better stuff the further you go down.

The old info on the wiki was incorrect; and likely originated from trolling -- some players started the prank/troll rumour that the way to get to the skull caves was to blow up the bottom floor of the Mines, likely that rumour was started in the hopes of getting unaware players to blow up the chest containing the key to the actual skull caves; which would have destroyed the key and meant they were locked out (unless inventory editing were used to replace the key).

The Skull Cave is an "end game" combat area -- it does get better the deeper you go, but it also gets tougher since your supplies will only hold out so long. Using stone to make staircases and skip the early levels is a popular tactic to save a lot of time, since the most desired loot is more common further down. However, using bombs to clear large areas of stone (particularly if there are some gem or ore rocks in the patch) can be a great way to extend the number of ladders you can make -- partly beacause it gives you more stone, but also because there's a chance the explosion will uncover natural stairs.

Using the deep holes to skip levels is also a quick way to progress, however the landing takes away some health. It's quick and effective if you have plenty of healing food, but not ideal if your healing potential is limited.

Also, it's possible to craft all three kinds of bombs while in the Skull Caves. For Mega Bombs, Mummies drop Solar Essence but can only be killed by bombs, and those dragon/serpent things drop Void Essence as well as rarely dropping Rabbit's Foot, Fried Eel and Spicy Eel. Mummies can be "herded" together by luring them to the same place (ideally up against some rocks) and putting them into their bandaged state at roughly the same time, allowing you to blow many up with a single bomb. As for gold ore, there's plenty of that around in the Skull Caves. For Large Bombs, iron and coal ore are rarer but still quite possible to find. Copper ore is actually extremely common down there, and Cherry Bombs are good for killing Mummies with. Unfortunately, Explosive Ammo requires a smelted iron bar rather than ore...

Speaking of slingshot ammo, if things get desperate Irridium Ore is actually really powerful as ammo. It might seem wasteful, but if you're facing the risk of losing a bunch of items and a little of that ore can clear a path to the nearest ladder out...

Oh, and it's worth noting that there are no elevators in the Skull Cave -- once you go down, you keep going down until you come up to the surface; and then you start again from scratch. Levels are randomised each time you head down.

Checked it myself. Each type of explosion and leaving and coming back before planting the next one. Nothing.

Probably thats why. But it would have been such a cool trick tho. paying 500g every time you want to go down there is not fun.
