Bee Hives
Is there some requirement for bees to make honey? When I first put it down I got a jar of honey but I haven't had anything since. I tried moving it closer to my crops but still nothing.
Am I doing something wrong?

Now my chickens have stopped laying eggs too but they're fed and happy. Odd. Maybe all the rain?

Beehives make honey every 3 days, not every day, and chickens have a chance of not producing eggs, this chance is reduced the more hearts they have, also the chance of getting big eggs is increased.
To clarify: The chance of not making eggs is a daily thing, not that a chicken will never produce any.

Ah, thanks. Now I can stop moving things around in circles, lol.

Do beehives need flowers? Would the outcome be better if I planted flowers? Do I get different honey types???

They don't need flowers, but flavored honey is worth more. Check here: http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Artisan_Goods

If you plant flowers you have a chance of getting flavored honey -- haven't noticed if that's worth more than plain wild honey.

They don't need flowers, but if they're placed nearby, you'll produce a different kind of honey and get a bonus to the product's value.

No and yes. Beehives will produce wild honey, unless a viable flower is blooming near it. Viable flowers are Tulip for spring, poppy for summer and fairy rose for fall. The last one produces the most lucrative honey.

Preemtive answer: no, beehives do not produce when in the greenhouse, so there goes your dream for fairy rose honey the year round

I just wanted to be sure, I know the wiki has been wrong on fish catching so I haven't really bothered with looking it up... Is the wiki pretty good though? I just tried playing this blind for several days to get used to the mechanics so I didn't know where to look for definitive answers (except the wiki because it never crossed my mind to look there!). (o__0')
Now I can have a cute path of flowers! :D

Which one? None of the information I've found on the official wiki[www.stardewvalleywiki.com] has been blatantly wrong in 2 game-years of playtime, but I've heard that the Wikia one is generally less useful.

If you have general questions about gameplay mechanics, it might be better to ask here if you want to avoid spoilers. Just let people know that in the post since a lot of people can be overzealous when it comes to "helping" people.
