I want to know this too. It seems irrelevant. The boulder is at the other side of the start of the stream the mine is at right? Nothing leads up to it, how would breaking it matter at all? unless it like, destroys that stream, raises the water level, or something.

You can collect ore from the river. With a pan.

Once it gets removed minerals flow into the water and you can use a tool to filter water and get ores from it, it's not very good, you'll have a lot of work finding a point with minerals (it shines bellow the surface) and it'll give you just lik 5 gold or 4 iron for example, and it comes way too late in the game.

Thats...totally useless. In order to break the boulder you have to be so far into the game you probably already have all the ore you need for most things.

I think it can give you some of the rarer materials and stuff for the museum, but it i really rare to find. I have gotten junk, and other times got 6 iridum ore. And I think something aid that you can get the rare Prism gem, thingy... from Panning.
