I utterly don't understand fishing.

The game is great so far, but as per the title, I really have trouble figuring out how to capture fish consistently, if at all.

I got the impression you had to keep the green bar underneath the blue, but it feels completely spontaneous about what elevation rises the blue bar or what works, it's utterly confusing.

I can't figure out how to consistently get the fish, or what your actually even supposed to do properly, or if theres anyway to figure out where to hold the green bar, ugh!

if the fish moves around too much it means your too low skill for it star fishing on the lake west on marnie's barn ( the cow lady south of your farm) it easier there

Keeping the green bar behind the fish (so the fish is inside it).
I think fishing skill and pole might also make this "mini game" easier. At least it feels that way.

So it has to do with level? I will try that lake, but I recall it not working at that point either, so the rules are keep the green under the blue?

you need to keep your green bar on the fish that moves up and down to raise your catch progress bar on the right to the top.

That's what I did, but it didn't work, so I'm guessing it's a level problem.

The fish will go up and down the whole line, you keep that green rectangle behind the fish.. not "below" but behind.. so there's the green rectangle with the fish in the middle.

the higher your skill the larger the green bar that you keep on the fish will get

yeah the high your fishing skill the higher bigger the green bar! fish there at night or late after noon. you'll get carps which will help level up pretty easily since they are easy to catch... you can tell what fish your catch by the way they move on the bar!

Yes where the green bar is that goes up when you hold down the mouse button, there should be a fish icon moving up and down too. The bar on the right hand side (it changes colour, but if you're doing bad it'll be blue) will fill from top to bottom to reflect your progress.
