Chrono Trigger Reference
Was going to marry "Alex" in-game until i saw the picture of a very close image to Chrono from Chrono Trigger in Abagails room. Abagail officially became the person i plan on marrying just from that. You can't be a gamer if you never played the best Snes rpg that ever game out.

There are some other references. There's a hair style very similar to Chrono's, and when the characters act surprised they jump exactly like the characters from Chrono's did in the game.

Sorry, couldn't find a higher resolution sprite.

Hah, i knew I will not be the only one to notice.
Also entering the Pelican town community hall, the winds blow just like in Chrono Trigger.

Final Fantasy VI is better, slightly, than Chrono Trigger. But I'll grant it's close and I don't know if there is a 3rd SNES RPG in the conversation that even comes close to those two. The original SNES FFIV loses to Chrono Trigger in almost every important way.

Is it a black wind thought?

There is also a poster of the classic Harvest Moon character in Sebastian room.

Everything I say will be my opinion, of course, but:

Secret of Mana
Illusion of Gaia
Terranigma
and Earthbound

are also all great SNES Rpgs that come immediately to mind which may have more of a "cult" or niche following.

^ Agreed. I thought of Illusion of Gaia, but it's closer to an Adventure title than an RPG, in my book. If you want to count it, though, I would agree. Never played SoM, but want to. I know next to nothing about Terranigma. And Earthbound is not as good as people remember.

Also opinions, of course. :P

You have no idea how much respect i have that you know these games. Yes, i agree aside all four of those games were awesome. But to add on those games you just called out. I would also like to note other good games were "Lugia", Soul Blazer, Secret of Evermore, and Shadowrun were great snes rpgs.

There is also an event in autumn that looks like the Millennial Fair at the beginning of Chrono Trigger :D

Oh no, another necro.

Oh well.

Now that we're here... my top five for SNES RPGs would go something like this:

1. Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
2. FFIV
3. FFVI
4. Chrono Trigger
5. Lennus (Paladin's Quest)

And then there are a bunch of other good ones... Estpolis Denki (Lufia), Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana), Breath of Fire, all that good stuff.

Sadly I never played any SaGa game on that console, I only played the three on GameBoy along with the first Seiken Densetsu.

Played all of those and they are all wonderful (except paladins quest havent played that). Saga is a great series, you should try. I would also recommend

Super Mario RPG
The Legend of Zelda (Links Awakening and A Link to the Past)
Earthbound (MUST)
Illusion of Gaia (MUST)
Secret of Evermore
Dragon Warrior (Basically Dragon Quest)
Terraingma
Breath of Fire (MUST)
Star Ocean

The musts are reallu good games and if you havent you REALLY need too.

Mind you The legend of zelda, dragon warrior, star ocean and breath of fire have had remasters. But still they are musts.

I played Super Mario RPG and Link to the Past, they were good. Illusion of Gaia wasn't bad.

Didn't like Earthbound. Yeah, I know, unpopular opinion, but I just didn't like it.

I played Dragon Quest 1 to 4, which were all on the NES. Dragon Quest IV is freaking epic. Didn't play any of the ones after that except for 7, very briefly.

Haven't played Secret of Evermore, Terranigma or Star Ocean.

So many games...
