Suggestion: Give fish clearer patterns, and/or fatigue.
I don't really mind fishing too much as it is. I manage most fish okay, I think they have just the right amount of challenge. But some fish just feel far too luck-based, even now I'm using the fibreglass rod with bait.

Two of these I think are the Sturgeon and Pufferfish - they flail all over the place... which is fine! I don't mind them being more challenging. I just wish there was more of a PATTERN to it. Sometimes they stay in one place for five, six seconds, then flip up to the top - then immediately flip down to the bottom and back up top again. It's just frustrating to come very close to catching the 'harder' fish only to have my progress essentially reset because of the RNG.

I just wish there was some actual pattern to it that I could potentially learn and get accustomed to. As it is, it really is just random luck.

Another suggestion would be for fish to get tired the longer you keep them hooked but not caught? So as long as you don't lose them entirely, you edge gradually closer to hooking them. To me it makes sense both from an immersive and gameplay point of view; it's just frustrating to have a fish so close to capture several times only to eventually slip away just because it decided to suddenly flail from top to bottom to shake you off.

Also, *PLEASE* give us a second at the start to orientate ourselves! So many fish that instantly jump to the top of the rod that are essentially impossible to hook because you don't get a chance to get going...

The sturgeon is supposed to be super hard. It'll be a lot easier with a higher fishing skill and the top tier rod.

I actually managed to snag two gold sturgeon from the mine lake. The difficulty is fine, I just wish they weren't so erratic as to provide random, impossible patterns such as the top-bottom-top I've seen several times.

It just needs a bit of tweaking, I think. I also think the fish fatigue could really help ease the frustration from long, failed struggles.

Is it actually impossible when it does the up down thing? Or with the maxed rod is that doable?

What does rod quality actually affect? Does it make the fish move slower, or make it take longer to 'lose' a fish? I don't think it's affected the bar size or movement speed.

I've always assumed the rods have an inherent benefit, but I don't know. The iridium rod allows the use of bobbers which add a variety of interesting boons.

I don't really see any issue with how fishing currently is, certain fish are harder to catch until later levels and currently the only fish that are erratic are the legendary fish. After a few casts I can tell what fish im getting by how much it struggles when trying to catch it.

Edit; the only buff ive seen to the newer rods are attaching bait and lures, with the Trap Bobber lure fish escape slower then normal so th erratic behavior isn't so bad.

Rod quality makes no difference aside from the length from shore you can cast out, and the ability to use bait (fiberglass) and tackle (iridium). Leveling up your fishing skill makes the green bar larger so it's easier to keep the fish in range.

Just caught a couple of super cucumbers but the pufferfish continues to elude me :c

I just feel like it'd be fairer, more fun and still challenging if fish did have fairly consistent patterns of movement and not just random flailing.

Fishing level also effect how quickly and how much a fish moves. If you're having trouble at lvl 10 fishing, I guess you could try using one of the food that gives fishing bonus?^^

What time of day/year did you catch the Super Cucumber... my wife needs one... for... reasons.

But seriously, I have been trying to catch them and haven't had any luck. Not in the catching mind you, I just never have any bite!

Off the eastern side of the beach, over the repaired bridge, off the pier there is where you catch cucumbers, I believe its during spring/fall.
