Easiest to just buy it if you need more then you can get from mining, it doesnt cost that much.

Coal is the one thing I never had a shortage of.. it drops all over the mines and hell, I find it on the beach sometimes I even just caught a fish and got coal with it..and if that's not enough you could use the coal making furnace, tho I get it dropped so much I've never had to use one.

Here's the issue, you need A LOT of coal to make A LOT of bombs so you can farm A LOT of ore. Sure you can get by having enough coal to make stuff, but when you are just trying to farm out rare ore you need to make bombs, and bombs cost coal, and you will run out of coal. :rcry:

Have you found the little round black monsters in the mine yet? They drop coal. You can also find it in minecarts in the mine if you follow the tracks in certain levels. Alternativelly, there is a craftable thing that can turn wood into coal but I don't remember what unlocks the recipe.
That enemies are from the movie Spirited Away.
Or totoro, that music pops up in my head everytime I see them: su-su-susuwatari....

Take the elevator in the mines to level 50.

Do levels 51 and 52, where you'll usually find a nice supply of iron ore and quitre a few dust sprites.

Return to the top of the mines.

Go back to level 50. Lather, rinse, repeat.

step one set up 9 charcoal makers. step 2 go to the carpenters shop and buy 990 wood (cost about 10k) once a week make charcoal. it should make you about 99 each time you do it. 11 burns at 30 minutes in game puts you about 5 1/2 hours in game each time. Also note if you set it up and don't want to take the time out once a week you can start charcoal when you wake and before bed for 18 a day but you'll need to buy more wood.

I love a good racist joke but I am not sure I see the punchline to the question, I am guessing it has something to do with Demetrius and Coal sharing the same colour but I am not sure how you work that into a punchline about aquiring coal?

XD glad i wasnt the only one that noticed, i said that above also. found they are most common in vl\\lvls 40-50 but i dont know if that can be diferent for others.
I also thought they were like theose little black things. Also reminds me of the soot sprites from my neighbor totoro.

Yep, there is an incinerator item that takes 20 wood and produces one coal. With all the tree laying about your farm and also out in the wild to chop down, this makes it relatively quick to farm.

You can also get the incinerator from completing the construction bundle at the community center. Pretty sure this bundle requires 2 stacks of 99 wood, a stack of 99 stone, and maaaybe one more thing but unfortunately my mind escapes me.

and 10 hardwood. So you'll need a copper axe to complete this quest.
This isn't quite true. Boxes in the minds can drop it.
