Fishing, mining, foraging or combat.(though combat and mining usually intermingle)

Wine. All of the normal quality crops go into a keg, and I only do fruit crops.

I don't really mine or fish for the money. I mine because I need resources (for more kegs!), I fish because I enjoy the minigame. Money is a side benefit.

Beehives is good, cost about 1400 gold (for ores n coal), give honey that sells for 200 gold per 3 day. Take some time to break even, but pretty kickass afterward.

Before I have good income, I collect corals on beach, little work that pays quite a lot.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Note: Wood Trees, not Fruit.

Edit: Image is from few days ago, wish I had better resolution to have a good zoom to show all the adult trees. Huge forest.

I make 90% of my money from harvesting. I hear animals suck atm, maybe that will change and ill get into that. Never ever thought about wine...

You make more profit fishing 5 fishes than you make from 4 chicken, if you count the long incubation times and the cost of the barn in materials and money...well it is really bad.
To get REAL LOTS of money make wine from melon, plant insane amounts of melon.
100 melon = 75k when converted to wine, or 25k when selling the fruit.
To make even more money you could instead plant lots of hops, they wield everyday in the summer after they grow and you can use then to make pale beer, that sells for 200g and they take only 1 day to make in the keg while wines from melon seals at 750 and takes 6 days.
Also in the keg you can make juice from vegetables, the best one is pumpkin = 960 gin 4 days.
Of course you will need to waste some money to have lots of kegs, that's why melons are the best to make money first.
You can sell the gold quality and silver quality melons to get money to buy ores and make kegs. and let about 40 of them to make wine till the fall, when you get the pumpkins then you are rich, babe

just remember: the quality of the crop doesn't make any difference in making wines, only the base price, so always use the crops and fruits that have the most value, but the worst quality.

Right now I have made most of my profits by just selling all the extra wood I get while cleaning the farm. A stack of 999 goes for like 7 k without the perk to up the price. A few days of clearing easily get you that many. Mining, Fishing, forage, are also very nice.

Only marginally so. They're still hardly worth the time invested compared to alternatives.

You're taking time away from doing other more effective things. Which isn't bad in and of itself.
But when the end result after all that still hardly covers the expenses you have to ask yourself what the point is. =P

I'm hoping to see some small tweaks in how fodder and grass works (and the costs involved).
Perhaps even a way to 'create' grass starters by digging up part of your field in fall (or simply have the grass go dormant).

And then get more processed results. Maybe a juicy steak and some nice chicken wings for dinner alongside that sunny side up breakfast.
Turning produce into meals usually was one of the more profitable routes in HM/RF.
Thanks for the tips!

Early on, I have been finding a lot of success gathering the foraging items across the 300-wood piece bridge down at the beach. Fishing has also been really profitable for me, but it definitely takes practice.
