How do I fish
No, I'm not complaining that fishing is too hard. 8) Also, I bought the game on GoG.com, not Steam, hence no mouse-icon by my name. Just saying.

I can't even seem to fish. I toss the line out into the water. Occasionally a ! appears over the chr. head, which I assume means there's a bite? Or not? Anyway I've tried l-clicking - all it does is make the line pull out of the water immediately. I've tried holding the left-mouse down. It does nothing and then when I release the button, it just does the pull-out-of-the-water thing.

I've tried r-clicking, holding down the r-button. Tried the middle mouse/wheel button. Tried randomly pressing some KB keys.

From videos and posts I think there's supposed to be some "bar" that you have to game with that dictates the chance to catch a nibble. I can't seem to get that bar to appear. I'm sure the answer is absurdly simple, but I'm missing something. 8)

I am having the same trouble. Have you figured it out?

Curious, Could it be you aren't reacting fast enough? The yellow exclamation mark along with the chirping noise that acompanies it is the indicator of there being a bite. A simple left click should trigger the reeling mini-game. I think you only have maybe 2 seconds or so to click or else it is to late. I don't hold the mouse down at all. I just click once to cast and when triggered I click once more to start the reeling in of the catch.

No, I never figured it out ... one of the patches to game, back when, seemed to fix it for me for whatever reason and after, it just started working like I saw in the videos. Dunno. :)

I had even tried lowering and increasing the desktop setting for mouse-click speed, thinking I had it too slow/fast for the game or something, heh. Didn't help tho.

I think my problem was that I was using a laptop mouse pad and the game wasn't responding to that for the fishing game. I got an xbox controller and it works fine with that. I have finally been catching up with the fishing for the community center :)

Cast the line in the water.

Immeadiatly click-and-hold left mouse.
Wait for the sound cue and/or the yellow exclamation mark.
Release mouse button.

You'll see the fish and the vertical fight-to-land-the-catch UI.

Click the mouse to raise the green bar. Release to let it drop.
Keep the green bar behind the fish.

In the begining, the green bar will be small, and the fish will be jumpy. You won't catch many. Try for Carp (lakes) they're sluggish.

Even if all you catch is trash, you're still skilling up. Skilling up increases the size of the green bar, making it easier. Save the trash, you can convert it to building materials later.

Each fish type has it's own behavior pattern, which, you'll need to learn if you want to catch that kind.
