Quartz is not hard to find, after a certain part of the mine, you should just take note of how many you'll need. The good sprinkler uses refined quartz, for instance. So for each sprinkler you want, you should store one piece of quartz.

I sell at least one (it looks like there's an achievement for selling everything, unless I misread it), and give one to the museum, then I usually just kinda split any more I find between selling and storing, honestly.

(Although I should add that I'm not as far in as a lot of people, only partway through summer, so I don't know if selling the stuff will bite me in the butt later.)

just make note of all the things that you want to build requiring that material and store that amount of refined quartz in a chest or something. after that sell or hoard as the materials will respawn in the mine over time so its almost always available

I always got like 20 spare quartz like than in case im planning to expand my Quality Sprinkler armada

Since fishing is my go-to activity i always have excess Joja CD or Glasses that always turn to refined quartz in recyling machine

Save you Earth elemental tho

Topaz, diamond, opal etc i always sell them

Don't sell quartz because you'll use them later on for some high level crafting stuff.

It may be a common material later on but you'd be surprised at how fast you can burn through your supply while crafting.

Just remember to keep a Diamond if you find it because later on you get an interesting item that passively duplicates gems. Currently I've got two of those puppies popping out gems at a decent rate for some spending cash.
