Dwarf bugged?

I've been giving the Dwarf his favorite gifts twice a week for 1.5seasons. He doesn't have a single heart for me.

Is this intetional by the developers to artificially inflate play time, or is this a bug?

Do you talk to him as well or just give him gifts and leave? I'm not sure if that actually matters, but I've given him maybe 4 gifts total and talk to him each time I go into the mines and he's at one heart for me.

Talk to him atleast twice a week.

I believe you have to 100% understand his language to raise his hearts at all, Which has something to do with having the 4 dwarf scrolls on hand I think?

Collect the 4 dwarf scrolls(each of them are numbered 1-4) from playing in either the Mountain Mine(125 lvls) or the Desert Dungeon(infinite lvls) and donate all 4 scrolls to the Museum. After turning them in you'll get a reward which is a book that lets you understand dwarvish which allows you to speak to the dwarf.

I honestly never bothered with the dwarf unless it was to buy some stuff.

Wow, it would have been nice if there was some reference to this in game. So basically I've wasted a lot of time and resources gifting to him.

I'm having the same problem. I have already got the four bergaminhos, I have already delivered it in the library, I have already got the translator, I have given several gifts and the hearts do not go up. Has anyone managed to fix it?

It may be a bug, or you're simply just giving the Dwarf disliked gifts. They love most gems and Omni Geodes. (Start a new thread if you want to elaborate more on the topic; this thread is 3 years old)

Just in case someone else finds this thread like I just did, I had a similar issue which seems to have resolved itself now. I gave the dwarf a birthday present before I had the dwarfish translation book, and then after I got the book nothing seemed to raise the dwarf's friendship level. It has now started to increase, so I think that giving a present before you can understand dwarfish might have caused something strange, but temporary, to happen.

Short version: don't give the dwarf gifts before you can talk to them. If you already have, be persistent and you should be OK eventually.

man, I have the same "bug"
I gave him a birthday present before I had all scrolls, now I've found all scrolls and I'm stuck at 0 hearts after giving many liked gifts

I am also having the same issue as well on a fresh 1.6 save, have all the scrolls donated and language learned given gifts and talked to dwarf but no hearts game (gifts given were extra scrolls which are liked gifts).

Note: I did attempt to give gifts and talk to the dwarf prior to learning the language, could this have been the cause of the bug???

Found the Fix, once you have the dwarf language learned apparently you need to restart the game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
