Are Geodes worth opening?

Lets ignore the fact that some things only come in geodes and look only at gold values.

any idea if you get more money in the long run (cos its random) selling or opening them?
so far i have consistently lost money.

seems a little like the lottery haha

I always open them. I get a lot of good stuff from them that I can donate to the museum.

Well opening Geodes cost 20G, as long as you get anything that costs more than 20G (Likely, unless you get something crappy.) you can somewhat make a profit.

Donating items to the museum gives it's own rewards, so factor that in. And once identified you can sell those items if/when you find them again.

I'd say yes it's worth it. I thought I was getting really cheap items at first, then I realised that most of what I was getting was worth more that the 25g I was spending. It could be you're just getting some bad luck?

There are only a few times where I got something cheap like a stone or copper ore while most of the time it's something that's worth at least as much as the opening cost. In the long run it should be profitable.

dont forget geodes have a sale price too.

50g for the basic one
200g for an omni

you're not just missing out on the 25g.. ur also missing out on the price the geode would have sold for.

yea omni geodes are one the few ways i know of to get iridium ore as well so those are def worth opening

You can get the ore from the bonus chests that appear when fishing too

Magma Geodedes also have a chance to roll iridium ore.
If you just/barely started your career, always open them!
(they will grant you rewards and even a bigger reward, once you turned in a lot of them *no spoilers*) There is plenty of endgame content, even though one might not see it at first. Cheers

It's always worth opening geodes... the stuff you get from them is ussually worth more gold than selling them
