Animal Pregnancy
Not sure if I'm just an idiot, so maybe I've just missed something - but I'd like to expand my herd of cows, and I see the option for "allow pregnancy", so I do I go from allowed to actually? Or is it just a random event when I keep them happy or something?

if you have enough room, min 2 of a species and allow pregnancy sometimes they will make offspring. you will get a message in the morning saying 'during the night X gave birth'. Happened 3 times to me, i always sold the new born cows since I wanted space for the goats.

Can they have babies in the first barn? The one that lets you hold 4 cows total.

I'm guessing no, since part of the second barn's description is "allows pregnancy".

Everything dubesor said seems to be true - it looks like it's a random event when you have space and adult animals in the right sized barn.

You don't actually need to have two of the animal type. One is enough. I only had one goat and last night she gave birth. Call it "magic" if you want, but it's a random event that happens when you sleep regardless of having more than one animal of that species. By the way, at least in regards to cows and goats (which you can milk) you can only ever buy females anyway (because, again, you can milk them) so having 2 instead of one shouldn't make any difference.

There's only one explanation for this. The farm animals are hermaphroditic.

The Big Barn's description says allows animals to give birth, so that would mean it only works in the big and better barns

I've had the fully upgraded barn for almost 3 years and I have yet to have any baby animals... Pregnancy is allowed and everything.

Same here. No pregnancy yet either. I have two of each... maybe I should only have 1 of each?

I was wondering if when the allow pregnancy button has an X over it, does that mean it's allowed or not allowed?

It probably means it is not allowed if it has an X over it.

(or that wouldn't make sence)

May I just point out, I believe you buy the animals pregnant, as no mammal can produce milk unless she is pregnant. Hence all dairy cows in real life are expecting mothers.

My goat and sheep had babies on their own...
