So i basically f*cked up quite a bit. I went out around the middle of autumn and placed grass starters everywhere so i could later harvest the hay all in one go.
But as it turns out, grass is just gone in winter and maries shop does not open up. I litterally camped out in there for a whole day and she does not open shop.

So my question is- is hay just not gettable in winter and should i sell my chickens and cows, so i don't loose to much money?

you can buy hay from the ranch south of your farm. its not too expensive, and it can get you through the winter. i wouldnt sell your chickens though. you'll make enough back from selling the eggs/mayo to more than pay for the hay each day

You can buy Hay from Marnie's Ranch. :)

Marnie usually leaves her shop unattended after a few hours into the day, so you might want to try getting in there early.

Also, AFAIK your animals can't die, but they get real grumpy

The "can't die" part really took a load of my chest. I am in marnies shop the third day now and got in at 9 in the monring but she just instantly left the register. At least i don't have to worry about the animals dying.

so did the grass just dissapear completely or just not grow back after you cut it, if it disapears imma have to cut it the last day of fall

I do wish, that the grass would wilt slowly instead of just vanishing. That way, you can at least see, that you should get out there and get that sweet hay before you need to spend 3k on hay to not grumpyfy your animals.

How do you make hay of it in the first place? Its atuum now in my game and its looks all yellowish but when I harvest it with a sythe, it just dissolve into nothing

you need to build a silo first. after that it gets converted into hay automatically. If you want to take it out of the silo, take it from the fodder-holders in the barns or coops.

You need to have a silo. When you do, grass will turn to hay when you harvest it with a schythe.
