I got a sardine on the beach in the spring during a sunny day with the first rod. You might want to check the wiki to see if they are restricted to certain seasons/weathers.

No idea in this case, I can constantly get sardine with the iridium rod (purple) fishing on the pier by the beach, maybe your level is too low? I'm level 9 in fishing. Using normal bug meat bait.
I can get them on all seasons so that's not the problem for sure.
I managed to catch sardines in Fall, but I haven't gotten a single red snapper, yet. I think we are at the mercy of the random number god.

I was getting nothing but sardines and sea cucumbers at the beach pier during winter on a sunny day.
The sea cucumbers were actually kind of annoying because I was trying to get a lot of fish for a recipe and they don't count as fish.

I'm beggining to hate red snappers, I spend day after day fishing all day long on the ocean and get none, wiki says they're there every season but spring and still I can't get them, it's the only one missing on my ocean bundle.

While I'm not 100% certain, my experience tells me that while fishing spots are generally grouped into 'lake', 'river' and 'ocean', different fishing spots within those areas yield different catches. For example I was doing all my river fishing right outside the mine, and never caught a tiger trout, but when I went and fished in the river near the southern end (on the little island near the hat vendor) tiger trout was almost all I was catching. Also lots of the ocean bundle fish I only caught off the port to the right (past the bridge that needs 300 wood to repair). Try fishing from lots of different spots within the area to increase your chances of finding the ones you want. If you're not getting it one place, move and try somewhere else. In addition there's one night-fishing bundle per area. Bream in river, eel in ocean and walleye in lake, all caught past 6pm. Hope that helps! (P.s. I also caught sardines on that right-side port)

It's been now 6 days in row, in summer... Can't catch in Sardine in the ocean...

sardine = spring for sure, maybe fall too. but definitly not in summer

red snapper = rainy summer day on the beach

The wiki says : Sardine - Ocean - Daytime - All seasons - All weathers

Well, I suppose there is an error! It will be Fall soon in my game so, I will wait!
