You don't have to do anything extra. A trellis is a wooden structure on which creeping plants can grow. In terms of game mechanics, the only thing different is that plants which grow on a trellis obstruct your movement, so you need to plan your layout accordingly. I.e. you can't just plant a 5x5 square full of beans because then you wouldn't be able to water or harvest them.

I still don't understand.

I have a "Bean Starter" and I don't know where to plant it. It says it grows on "trellis" but I don't know what are those in the game.

plant it like a normal seed, it automaticly creates the trelis when you plant it.

Nothing to do really, just plant your beans light any crops, the trellis appear by himself.

You can't walk through the plant. That's about it

You plant beans / bean starters in the exact same place and manner as you plant anything else.

The only difference is that unlike, say, parsnips, you can't walk through those tiles afterwards. So don't plant them in a 3x3 arrangement, or you won't be able to reach the one in the center. (I use 2x6 rows.)

that works.. alternaticly, you could do a 3x3, just leave the center square empty for an advanced sprinkler

Quite true. Of course, if you're planting beans for the first time and don't know how they work, you probably aren't at the "advanced sprinkler" part of the game (then again, neither am I).

Another option for (manual, starter-level watering can) watering efficiency might be to plant seven of them in a "U" shape, so you can walk into the center of the U and water all seven tiles without moving, or planting them in parallel lines with a single-tile-wide walkway down the middle.

Oh, I feel silly now. I was waiting to learn how to craft a trellis or something. :ralphhurt:

It's weird. I tried to plant them in a normal way and my character just doesn't plant it.
Gungrave Mar 1, 2016 @ 3:47am
any seeds that say they grow on trellis already come with one when you plant them.

Hoe the ground where you want to plant it. Hold the seed in your hand, stand in front of the hoe'd ground, place seed.

Thanks.

I have trapped myself in my stone walls and bean trellis mess. No pickaxe. Send help.
