Where can I find Common Mushroom?

It says that I need it for a Foraging reward during the Fall, but I have yet to find it.

You can either forage them outside during fall season, in the mine or grow them in the cave that Demetrius sets up for you. I hate looking for mushrooms, so I took that over the fruit bat option.

Typically in the forest. Check the upper left section.

Also if you put mushrooms in your cave instead of bats you'll get a million of them.

Precisely. I have about twenty of them just sitting in my chest right now. I haven't built a kitchen, but I know I'll need it later.

Define forest. Like the forest that is west of where you buy animals?

Forest is any portion of the map that doesn't have any buildings (typically. You can count the area between the Wizard Tower and the old abandoned home as a forest), or is a seperate area on it's own, like the Backwoods.

Yeah sorry. I meant, check the upper left section of the forest where the wizard tower is. It has the highest mushroom spawn rate. You'll need a steel axe.

It's a small brown mushroom. Check stardewvalleywiki for sprite pictures and all that junk.
