best way to farm coal and wood?
been getting a ♥♥♥♥ ton of ore but not enough coal to keep turning it into bars. I could turn my wood into coal but also never have enough wood any tips for either or both?

Get to winter. Enough time for farming wood and metal. :-P

For coal I just farm the little black monsters in the mines.
About wood, maybe planting lots of tree. Of course, will take time.

Yep. No crops outside except the wild winter seeds.

Was the best month for farming metals and wood for me. At day 20 of winter it already was very boring. :D

At a certain point you unlock a charcoal kiln which converts 20 wood to 1 coal.
I made a couple of them but I got to a point in the mines where its like a coal tsunami and I never felt the need to use my kilns again.
They're still nice to have though in case you need to smelt an extra bar or two and don't want to go all the way to the mines for a few pieces of coal.
As for getting wood just keep chopping it back in your farm? I always leave the saplings since they're a waste of wood to destroy as they are since they'll give so much more if you let them grow.

And another tip: Dont chop the tree full down. Only cut the crown. The stump will regrow.

For wood, I just fenced off the bottom left corner of the farm and plant all my tree seeds inside there. Trees will spread on their own, if you have a lot of them in one area and let them grow naturally you should have wood for ages.

actually stumps dont regrow. it was posted in the stardew valley wiki that is just a rumor and they even bolded that they DON'T regrow. logically stumps are dead in real life and since they try to get realistic in a way it would be silly to have a dead stump grow back. It's in the wiki though that was a rumor and is false.
