Regarding the male suitors...

So, my wife and her friend have both said that none of the male suitors are attractive / appealing, and are pretty disappointed about this.

They're aware that the game its not about that so much, however it is still a large part of npcs. To them it seems that the female suitors are way more appealing vs males. They have both said that it felt that they were "hitting on highschoolers" rather than actual men. Meanwhile, the character that they actually had the most interest in, Shane, is not even an option. They are aware that there is probably a reason why Shane isn't available, and that's cool. But, they would love to see more characters like Shane.

Just wondering here but, does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah it's a fairly common complaint among the other girls I've talked to about the game. Elliot is the only adult looking bachelor but you just can't take his Fabio-esce appearance seriously.

The changing of the guys / girls appearance is one of the reasons I can't wait for modding to happen.

I kind of agree with the "highschoolers" comment. But then some of the female suitors (Halely in particular) also strike me the same way. I think several of the males are attractive enough (including Shane) but it's the personalities that are off putting (especially Shane). The one male NPC I'd pursue just due to personality would be Demetrius, but he's not available either. And he's plenty attractive enough too.

edit: Oh, forgot about Elliot. He's the one male suitor NPC whose personality I'm almost ok with, but the long hair? Just no. I'll probably end up with whoever I run into the most and who is the most responsive to my efforts at building a relationship. (And yes, this is one gay male perspective, not a female one, FWIW.)

That was what I was leading toward more in terms of appealing, that it had a lot to do with their personalities as well, not just looks. And yeah, they were saying that Elliot looks like he came from a romance novel more than anything.

You can marry any of the 10 single characters regardless of gender.

I dislike the stereotypes of the men.
You got a doctor, you got an emo who never gets off the pc (tumblr in a nutshell), a jock, etc.,
The girls seem really cute, I like how Robin's character even works as a carpenter. That's cool! Too bad you can't marry her. BAH.

Of all the men, I originally choose Harvey, but then in later months of the game's release at some point he was given this ugly moustache. Ugh. I hate it, but I don't care for the rest of the stereotype guys, so I'm literally gonna marry him. I just have to deal with him long enough to see the baby scene, then I'll be happy. Babies in these games always make me d'aw. (Them pixels tho.)

But yeah.
The women are 100000% cuter than the men.
Though their sprites make me feel uncomfortable, I thought half of them were children when I was talking to them, then I saw their face portrait and was like OHH. HAHA. WELL.

The mustashe definitely was offputting. Maybe a beard? Or scruff? But just something else. It looks like the mustashe is slapped on, and without it he's too young.

Throughout the entirety of like, all the previous screenshots of the game he was 100% okay with me, I mean, I wasn't like 'oohh hawtie!111' but he was decent, compared to how much i disliked the other men, but then a beta tester showed a preview of him with the stache and I died. Why.

Kinda off topic, but adding to Demetrious, I like him a lot. I'm kinda sad at the lack of darker skinned characters personally. I like how Maru is there, and her personality is really cool, but dang, no tans on the men's side. I don't usually care with these things beceause you can make your character's skin green/blue etc, it's all fantasy haha... but as a dating game designer myself I'd personally put a bit of both on each side to make it even.
