Flower Dancing and Chicken Cooping

Two entirely unrelated questions:

1) How high does someone's relationship have to be with you in order for them to agree to dance at the Flower Dance?

2) The game has mentioned that, when it comes to livestock, you can feed them hay in the coop/barn/wherever, or you can "fence in the coop and let them graze on grass outside." I assumes this means that the enclosed area needs to actually have grass in the first place, so my main question is "How many squares of enclosed grass-producing squares are necessary to sustain each chicken?"

So the grass acts different In this game. It's has levels, so when I let my chickens out I see the grass kind of poof and get shorter, that's means they ate. They can eat off the same one if there is literally only one. My advice is to let it grow a month and then get animals because then they won't eat it faster then it can grow. And I'm not sure about the dancing

For the dancing you need to interact with the people regularly. Find a handful to start with and just start talking with them/gifting them items they'll like. Eventually they'll like you enough to dance with you next year.

I've heard you need five hearts for the flower dance, but I'm not sure. If it's possible to get your relationship with someone high enough before the event, it's only barely possible. You'd probably have to speak to them every single day starting from Spring 1 and give them nothing but gifts they love as well. That means for some partners it won't be possible considering some of them only love gifts that you simply can't get that early in the game.

So I'm guessing a first-year dance is out of the question?

In my first try, when the Flower Dance rolled around I didn't have more than one heart with anyone, and got roundly shot down. I admittedly hadn't been pressing that hard to build up relationships, but I'm curious if it's worthwhile to try to raise one person's relationship quickly before the Year One dance (or if it's outright impossible to get it high enough that quickly).

Yeah it's possible but not really worth the time and resources, you can enjoy the dance on the second year.

As a semi-update on this, I just managed to dance with Haley at the Year 1 Spring Flower Dance with a four-heart relationship. So, I've been able to rule out two hearts, and dance with four hearts. Not sure what the three-heart situation is, but for anyone in a hurry to get a dance partner that first spring, hopefully this helps.

It's either four hearts, or unlock the first social event and have 2-3 hearts.
Social event as in a cut-scene with that person.

Yes, first year Flower Dance Haley danced with me with four hearts, but Leah shot me down with three hearts.
