Stuck at the flower dance

Well, as the title says it: I am stuck at the flower dance. I can't seem to exit, no-one wants to be my dance partner so I have no idea what to do.

Help? *furiously calls 911*

Just talk to the Mayor, and he'll begin the event, once the event ends you can return home.

Mayor is found on the north side of the dance, took me a roam to spot him. Guy who talks to you at start of the game with epic moustache.

I am unable to start a conversation with the mayor. I can click on him as much as I want, nothing happens. :P

You don't need to talk to _everyone_ in order to continue.
You just talk to the mayor, even if he doesn't have a speech bubble. He will give you the option to start the dance.
