Lol I know the feeling. My character is an old man, I feel like I'm robbing the cradle with some of these kids.

'specially the kid in the basement. Like, why am I dating 15 year olds? Can I not? No..... *sigh*
My current "best" option is Abigail, someone who participates in the children only egg hunt.

I'd be okay with Maru too - I mean your mileage will vary based on your opinon of the JinAir Greenwings but still.

To be fair, we also participate in the children only egg hunt.

With the exception of Harvey and Elliot, most of the courtship candidates appear to be 18-20, which is basically still a kid.

No it's pretty firmly still a child - 25 is about the generally accepted physical and mental age if I got that right for adulthood.

I've just accepted my 35 year old character is getting himself a boy toy, I guess. :D:

Ayup. I like Sebastian and Abigail. They're both the "youngest" but htey're also the least annoying. (Really? I'm trying to run a farm and you get both a male and a female "I am so vain and have never worked a day in my life" personalities)
...You all do know nobody actually says their ago so everyone could be 100 years old for all we know heck your chracter doesn't even have a birthday...

I am glad to see that other players have the same feeling as me. How about having some of the mature men with facial hair available for marriage? If they are not available (due to their day job), then please add some other mature single people. My character does not want to court a child or childish townie. Thanks!

That said, Harvey looks to be in his 30's at least, so that's one option I suppose.

Elliot might be late twenties.

The rest of them are babies.
Artist chick also looks like late 20s, especially if you get her background from her. Most others appear to be early 20s. So not children by any margin just fairly young. Given my own age I see no problem with it tho.
It would be cool if they added additional romance options in the future. I'm with everyone else in wanting to romance Emily, and I keep hearing people talk about how much they like Shane.

While Clint kind of has a thing for Emily, it's very subtle and as far as I can tell, it never turns into anything. The only problem would be that some of the potential dialogue would have to change or it would be weird. For instance, there is a quest where Clint has you deliver a gem for Emily from him, and several points where he talks about Emily.

Well, technically they would be if you played this game for 100 ingame years.

As for your character having a birthday, I'm sure they do... it's just never brought up or acknowledged by any other characters. From the way that many of the NPCs respond to you giving them gifts (surprised you remembered/noticed, forgot it was their own birthday, etc) it makes me think that they might not be really big on celebrating them.
Oh, and I wouldn't call any of the romantic options children. They are all adults that happen to be living at home with their parents still, something that's not entirely unusual in that kind of town.

Many of them have jobs, are taking online college classes, etc. They may seem young to you, but they simply aren't.

Furthermore, the characters that are living alone (Leah, Elliott, and especially Harvey) are all fully adults and there really isn't anything even remotely childish about them. At least not in the context of this thread.
I assume they all skew a bit younger because the dev doesn't expect an old man to be getting a letter from/dealing with his GRANDPA dying...lol

Eh, you could theoretically be 60 and have your grandfather die at 100. It's not ~entirely~ unheard of, plus he technically dies 20 years before the game actually starts, if i'm not mistaken, thus being 40 and having a 80 y/o grandfather die isn't all that far out there, even more believable if your char's only in the 40s-50s.
to the OP its the same reason every spouse gets jealous. the Dev has a bit of life learning to do in regards to creating characters lol.

On the other side of that though, they tried really hard with alot of the characters an did some really rad things too so practise makes perfect i guess
HM:MM for the Gamecube (harvest moon magical melody) had 10 guys and 10 gals to romance and their ages had to be the most diverse of all of them. From a girl that might be 16, but swears she's 18 to a woman that is 35 and claims you don't want such an old woman for a wife. A lot of the single people in Stardew seem like high schoolers. Especially Alex and Haley. Also, Abigail talks about having to finish her homework...
I'd love to see more variety in the romance options in terms of age. Let's at least add a couple of middle aged women to the mix.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life had some good ages I thought. The wives were (with the exception of Lumina, who was bumped from 14 to 18 with the Special Edition and made marryable), IIRC, between 25-30.

I've thought the male options in this game seemed a bit young in terms of personality, and it's hit-or-miss on the girl's side. Abigail and Haley seem on the younger side, but Leah and Penny seem pretty mature.

Of course, I haven't seen all the events with most of them...
