Smallmouth bass

Why am i only catching smallmouth bass, soggy newspaper or algae? Been fishing for 2 whole days trying to find a carp in one of the lakes... but only caught 999 smallmouth bass, wtf is up?

The fish vary from place to place and from a season to another. I think the Smallmouth bass is one of the most common types, so that might be the reason you find them so often.

By the way, the wiki lists which kind of fish appear on which season. There is also a Steam Guide that tells where you can find most of them too.

Also, vary your casting range until you find a sweet spot, also keep an eye out for bubbles in the water and try to hit it. Fish fast and furious that way, even with a basic pole.

Ive tried everything. The guide says : Lake and any time. Ive tried far and short casts, nothing. Also tried to catch a catfish, fished for 2 days, nothing:/

Which lake are you trying? The one by the wizard tower, or the one by the mine? Maybe switch?

Ive tried all lakes. Even the tiny one on my farm, but that one only had trash :)
