A bicycle actually is a pretty good idea for those who can't afford a horse yet. Would fit the game very well and spare us some running frustration. Driving through a 30-souls-village with a moped, on the other hand, doesn't sound quite right.

Repair the Mine Carts. Cook a speed boost food. THere are plenty of ways to speed up.

There are some other ways to get around like the mine cart once you unlock them.
