Do relationships decay?

I dont want to have to talk to NPCs all the time so I was wondering.

I'm not sure if the actual progress decays, but I know they get all pissy and ignore you if you don't talk to them for a few days.

Relationships (heart counts) do decay over time. But fairly slowly.

have not noticed it yet , but there is other things that reduce your relationship , for example someone spot u using trash bin ...

as far from talking i speak with only few people , girl i want to get married with , smith (because im 24/30 in the mine) , and librarian because i donate alot of relics

thats all , all other people i greet if i drop by accidely

some of them i wish not even to meet , because of them being totaly jerk

been talking to leah for days and gave her like 3 gifts and not a single heart yet...i guess I just gotta keep at it.

You sure about that? I remember CA posting on his Twitter that once you got friendship status (5 hearts I think) it wouldn't decay anymore.

I think that's just something that happens not based on you ignoring them.

So, what's the consensus? Do they decay? At what rate? Is gifting 2 things a week enough to keep steady relationship? :P Do they stop decaying after some № of hearts?

Everyone is at 3-6 hearts in my game, and I only gift when it is their birthday. Except Leah, I maried her so she got a lot of salad and wine ;P

I also only talks to them if I happen by them, and on holidays...

She likes salad from the Saloon, every week your two presents will "kick in" and then you will get the hearts from them afaik.

No just once a week. Meaning talk to them atleast one time anywhere between Sunday to Saturday. Aslong you talk once to them I believe it wont decay.
