Gunther and the Sewer Key

So I found the little kids playing down by the sewer and one of them mentions that Gunther has the Sewer key. However, I cannot chat with Gunther. I only ever see him in his museum and he only talks to me about donating stuff. How do I get the sewer key?

I'm guessing that maybe my pet cat will be locked away in the sewer and that's what has been making all the strange noise... If not, I still just want to get into the sewer, lol.

You need to donate 60+ items then it randomly goes to a cutscene sometime after donating them.

After you've donated enough stuff, he randomly comes by and tells you that you helped the library win an award with the archaeology society, and he gives you the key that he found.

I could be wrong but I think it's 60 items donated... I checked and had around 52, then got the key like a season later, so 60 sounds right. There could be some other requirements, like "30 minerals/gems" or something.

He randomly shows up at your house one morning.

The Rusty Key is obtained from Gunther after donating 60 items to the Museum. Its existence is first referenced by Jas and Vincent in a cutscene.
The item can be found in your 'Wallet' in the The Player's Menu on the Skills tab.
It is used to enter The Sewers.

The noise was a shopkeeper who lives in the sewer, not the cat. Cat shows up a few weeks into game if i remember correctly.
