Placement of Items

I've noticed that trying to place items can be a little difficult. For example, the storage chest I made. I was running around pressing 'A' (gamepad) trying to get it to set down and it just would not go anywhere. Finally got it after a while but it wasn't where I was really wanting to put it. Anyone had that issue and/or found a way to bypass it?

You can turn on highlighting the square you're looking at in the options, but it does seem like you can't put stuff like the chest just anywhere. Took me a while to find a proper spot for the furnace.

Yeah, that furnace... I was trying to put it by the fireplace and it was just NOT wanting to go there. Finally got it there after trying and trying. One time it placed up under the table. I was just like 'that's not where you go!'.

You can place things outside too if it makes it any easier. My furnace is outside.

I ran into the same issue. I was unable to place the furnace and chest on a floor spot that I wanted and now its permaneantly placed in a bad spot.

If you are playing with gamepad, use right stick when you have storage box selected to place it exactly where you want it. missplaced it anyway? empty it and hit it with a tool to pick it up

Placement is definitely wonky. I was able to place things on squares that it told me moments before I could not place them, just based on my position/which direction I was facing (the furnace was easier to put down if it was behind me, for some reason..?)...
