Hoppers

In the Changelog for 1.5, there was a mention of hoppers as a new machine.

Where do we get them and how to do they work?

Well they're craftable so did you check your crafting tab ? If it isn't there then the recipe must be somewhere.

In Minecraft, hoppers can be used to pull items from one thing to the next... So it can pull food from a chest, put it in a smoker, then put the cooked food in a 2nd chest. Or you can put ore in a chest, use the hopper to load it into a furnace, then it puts the smelted metal into chests.

If the Stardew ones do the same thing... I guess it's a weaker version of the "Automate" mod. Like, you can have your furnaces start up every morning, without ever having to interact with them.

I'm just guessing, of course.

I've got one of the new recipes (Farm Computer) as a reward mailed to me the next day for a special order (for Demetrius), so I guess that's how we'll get hoppers as well.

Edit: Also got a sewing machine from Emily before that, since then nothing on the board but it still displays the previous orders greyed out so maybe the time allocated to complete them has to pass before a new one appears, even if you complete it early.
I'll update again if I find the recipe.

This might be a little late but it is a VERY late game after (spoilers) finding 100 golden walnuts on ginger island and unlocking the master door. Then you can complete Qi quests for Qi gems that can be redeemed for hoppers and the hopper recipe (I think... maybe not).
