how do you fish?
the minigame feels super floaty and hard to control
is this just an early game thing? or is that just how the minigame is

hold the button instead of clicking that helps

and its mostly an early level thing as you gain more levels in fish (including fish food buffs) the bar will get bigger and it will be easier to catch fish, you can also use tackle to help you

or you can use mods to skip the fishing minigame altogether

It definitely gets easier as you gain levels- I personally really enjoy the fishing minigame but if you don't you can use mods to skip it lol

Keep in mind some fishes will be brutally hard even with max level. Have fun fishing. If you are too bored then go for autofish mod.

Buying the training pole helps getting started.

Okay, this is SUUUUPER long, but bear with me. I have lots of good fishing information.

If you're really struggling with it, buy the training rod from Willy to help you level up a bit, and then switch back to the bamboo rod when you're more comfortable. Eventually, you can get a rod (Iridium Rod, 7,500g - unlocked at level 6 and purchasable from Willy's shop) that will allow you to use tackle and bait, and the tackle help with some of the difficulty (just read the descriptions to make sure it's what you need). I recommend the cork bobber to increase the bar size if that's the main concern, but you'll need to level up to unlock the rod that allows you to attach tackle.

The training rod will limit the fish that you can catch and will only allow you to catch the basic fish in the game, so I don't think the community center bundles are able to be completed with that rod... but it's good for learning how to get through the fishing game easier.

It's definitely not easy to master at first, but as you level up, it gets easier. At level 0 of the fishing skill, the green bar is about 96 pixels. At level 10, it's about 176. Every level, it expands by 8 pixels. (The entire bar is about 568, for reference.) The training rod that I previously mentioned sets the green bar to be the same size as it would be if you were level five in the fishing skill.

The easiest way to do it is to hold the mouse button instead of clicking whenever you can. I struggle most with dropping the green bar back down to the bottom when the fish moves. Usually I end up bouncing it off of the bottom and losing the fish. Best way to avoid that is to slowly lower it. Hold and release on repeat. Also the best way to keep the bar at the same spot.

If you don't want to go through the trouble of fishing and leveling up, there's an auto fishing mod somewhere for download. I've played with it before and it's super simplified. Just cast, hit the mouse button when there is a fish on the line, and it will automatically catch it for you.

I made sure to click to get notifications about this comment if there are any questions about anything!! I can also get you a wiki page for anything fishing related if you need it, or you can check the Stardew Valley Wiki. It's extremely helpful.

Happy fishing! :stardrop: :luv:

That.

Also, I recomend to spend some ore to craft fishing traps. Each time you catch some fish or even trash/recycle material with then is like one fish with the rod, so you'll be getting skill points each day.
