pausing the game

last time i played through this game i had a difficult time because i have to take several breaks from game and i don't remember if pausing is even available so anyone know either how or if it possible

You can pause by just opening any menu or chest.

Time does not pause in multiplayer, but it does pause in single player. (When opening chests or menus or inventory.)

i think the host can still pause just not anyone else might be wrong on that though been a while.

oh, that's right Nanami, I forgot. In multiplayer a host can type /pause into chat to pause everyone's game at once.

Very useful for breaks when the group has been playing for hours!

For splitscreen-multiplayer, having all players in menus also pauses the game. Very useful for when someone has a cutscene which they don't want to skip^^

thank you for the replies. i was meaning for the base game single player. as it has been a while since i played i also may have confused time not pausing while in the house. (got so used to that in harvest moon)
