How does the coop work?
I'm planning to buy the game to play with a friend.

My question is: Can we all "live" in the same house together?
And if not, is there any point on playing together? Do we share materials and stuff?

Or each one has their own farm and you can just go and visit without any relevant impact?

Thanks in advance!

Never played co-op myself.
But I've seen some co-op videos from WPE.
The farming area is shared. You can build extra houses for extra players for a really negligible fee - but you don't have to. People were OK sleeping together in single bed. So, basically, you CAN all share same house (the bed is the only crucial furniture piece in it).

Everyone can sleep in the same bed together if they want, but it is necessary to have a cabin for each member anyway, just to create the guest account. Each player's mail will only arrive at their own cabin, and each player has exclusive ability to upgrade their own cabin or move certain furniture inside it.

Money can either be shared, or be separate. It is the owner's choice. And the choice can be changed easily by clicking in a book at Lewis' house, so there's no real problem with trying things out either way.

XP is not shared, but it earned by each player for whatever tasks they perform. So it is possible for one player to max out their skill trees while another player has practically none. It's all about what they choose to spend their time doing.

Some teams choose to farm in one big field together, and some choose to create separate farms individually. The Four Corners layout was specifically made for that style of play. The divisions between the four nearly equal areas help create a sense of fairness in opportunities for planting crops or keeping animals. But multiplayer games can be played on any of the maps if you like.

You are playing in the same farm but in different house, host live in the main house and your friend live in the cabin. But u guys could sleep in the same bed, so to play in "the same house" is possible.

Yes u share the materials and stuffs, the only options to split is money. The game may give you the maximum number in the farm is 4 (you included), but u can change the settings via notepad++ in the game files. Maybe for easier method someone may had create a mod about that? (Nexusmod is the main source mods for Stardew Valley).

And to play together u always need a host who always being able to online everytime u want to play together. So your friend can't join without host load the farm for them to join. The game also available to split screen multiplayer and LAN.

If you want to live in same house you can but still need to cabins for ppl to join your game, maybe move them to an unused corner of the farm out of the way, or use them as "sheds" for storage.
Coop is fun, up to 4 people (more if with mods I think nxt major update can support 8)
You have the host in the main farm house, then "farmhands" everyone has their own house. (they need their house to join play) So you need an empty cabin. You can start the game with them on the farm or go to Robins and have them build where you want.
Shared money - You can share the total money, this can lead to problems if someone spends all the money for upgrades or things they want leaving nothing for everyone else, but with friends can share and work around it making sure everyone eventually gets everything
Split money - start with $500 each can also choose this open then change to shared money giving a starting pool of $2000 (if 4 ppl playing) If you ship the item to be sold you get the money for that item sold. If someone harvests your crops to sell think they get the money for that.
Upgrading cabins can be done same as house so eventually everyone can get married to NPC's of their choice. Think everything except cellar.
You can share materials and all items, or keep it seprate the 4 corner farm is good that everyone has their own corner and can do with that space as they want. You can open and have access to other peoples chests etc hence sharing unless you choose not to.
The host has to start the game for everytone to join.
Can marry other players if you dont wanna marry NPC. Can share the same bed, useful if running out of time and just into any bed.
Explore together and coop is fun if you get people to work together, mine together. If not on voice there is a text chat.
If you want a new people to join you need an empty cabin for them, say you had 4 people one quit playing you need to delete and remake their cabin for someone else to join. Cabin is only reservered for those who start in the cabin. But they are cheap and easy to make.
If you upgrade one set of tools you can keep them in a chest for everyone to use, That is great if you decide to upgrade one set first especially early one before gettin set up. Everything can be shared.
Everyone is on the same farm, you can always seprate by building fences so everyone can do with their own farmland what they want.
