How to copy Stardew Valley Saves from one Mac to another.
Hi

I want to restore my saves and progress and play stardew valley from where I left off.

First, let me tell you what has happened.
I have a very old computer and steam stopped working because i was running an unsupported MAC OS.

I put a new hard disk in my computer. I installed the most recent Mac OS that my hardware will support. Catalina 10.15.

I copied the Steam application folder from my old hard disk to my new hard disk desk top.

I think my Stardew Valley saves and progress is backed up to the Steam Cloud. I can see it in storage and the date I last played seems to match the date on the storage file, 24 September. But I think I might have started a new world after the 24th, so I am not sure where the files for that world are.

when I try to play stardew valley from my new Steam installation it says:
Cloud ouf of Date
You played Stardew Valley on "users=MBP" (Sunday, September 24 at 8:51 PM), and that save is not yet in the cloud. (upload not started)

You can still play this game, but that may create a conflict when your previous game progress successfully uploads.

______

when I log in to Steam, in Storage, when I tick the box on the far right of stardew valley, only the Uninstall button is available.

So, here is what I want to do:

I want to play Stardew Valley on my new Steam installation, on my new hard disk.

I want to play with my latest saves and progress, if at all possible.

Do I need to some how get Stardew Valley from the cloud and move it or download it to my new hard disk/Steam Installation?

Are my most recent saves and progress in the Steam folder I copied from my old hard disk? If they are, how do I get them and use them? or do I need to upload them to Steam Cloud.

I don't know if the stardew valley in storage is the my current game (it looks like it is because the date seems correct), but I might have created a new world since then. How do I check?

I still have the old hard disk, so if there are files I need from it, so I can play Stardew Valley from where I left off, and they are not in the Steam folder, where would they be?

I hope this isn't all too complicated. I don't mind loosing a bit of my saves and progress, but I am scared of the "conflict" it mentions when I launch it.

Thank you very much in advance. I really appreciate all of your support.

What I would suggest is that you first make a back up of your old local save data.

I'm not currently running the Mac OS, so I can't check the exact path, but try this:

Go up to the "Go" menu, press-and-hold "option" and then select Library.

Look for an appdata folder. It MIGHT be inside a Steamapps folder.

look for config, then StardewValley then Saves.

The files in there should be the most recent version of your game. Copy those, and then put them in exactly the same place on your new HD. Then when you try to play the game, make sure you're using the local files when you launch. You should be able to deactivate the Steam Cloud by right-clicking on the app in your Steam Library (should you need to).

Do note, if your old save was from prior to 1.5, then I can't promise that they'll still work perfectly. (It doesn't mean they won't, but it's a possibility to be aware of).

At some point this evening, I'll probably be switching back over to the Mac side and I'll check the exact path and edit my post.

There's also this: I don't usually use the "go to folder" method, I prefer to navigate to the correct folder manually, but ... should work: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves
